Trying to Get Pregnant

Where does sperm "wait" for the egg?

I've been thinking about this for the past few days, and I can't find a clear answer anywhere. We all know that sperm can survive in EWCM for a few days while waiting for the egg to be released. But where does it wait? Does it actually make it up into the Cervix and wait there?

I know I'm just being crazy, but I sometimes find myself wondering if by checking my internal CM a few times a day, I might be pulling out sperm with it that is "waiting" in there! LOL

Re: Where does sperm "wait" for the egg?

  • The sperm "wait" in your fallopian tube I do believe but watch THIS! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAnMymnJiLM It will answer ALL your questions. That is part 1 and there are 6 parts, I've watched it twice :o) GL!

  • The Great Sperm Race on Youtube is awesome! It's a documentary about how sperm travels through the womans body. Also talks about all the obsticals sperm has to go through to make it to the egg. It's pretty interesting! I bet it has your answer!
  • You need to watch The Great Sperm Race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAnMymnJiLM&feature=related

Make sure to watch all of the parts. It is awesome! And explains a lot.

It's preferable that the sperm waits for the egg in the fallopian tubes, but as The Great Sperm Race explains, only a slim few actually make it that far.

Actually, the whole thing just kind of scared me. I'm thinking... in a perfect scenario, all those sperm will still die off, and only one will make it, and have all those obstacles to overcome etc. etc... Now what the hell will happen with DH's 1 sperm that gets to my fallopian tube, and I have an arsehole of an egg that's not shaped right, or isn't big enough, or isn't even an egg, but a cyst. It's not very hopeful. LOL It was interesting though. And now I will drown my doom and gloom with greasy pizza.
