Moms, come in! cramping=contractions?

I am so sorry for asking this, I have books and I know I've read they can feel like menstrual cramps.  I've been getting cramps since Saturday but just a bit ago they started to bother me.  I think they're timable... 

Why is this so different than with O?  With her, I had one back contraction and I just knew, like they said I would?

    My labor w/ Betsy started out as cramping--it felt like a cross b/t menstrual cramps and diarrhea cramps.  My water had broken and everything and I still sat on the pot for awhile because I thought I had an upset stomach.

    I've had diarrhea (sorry TMI) since Saturday night, so that's what I was thinking. However, I don't have to go.

    Hecky those are my thoughts too... I thought cramping was out of the equation until this was over!! 

    Wife... I tried timing mine, but it wasn't consistent. Also keep chugging your H20!!

    thanks girls.  They're coming regularly, but not exact yet.  We'll see.  I'll keep you posted.

    I am also experiencing cramps like you describe and have been for about 3 weeks. They get stronger and more painful with walking, but then go back to just feeling like menstrual cramps. Ugh. Hopefully they turn into more soon, for both of us! Good luck!

    Mine did feel like menstrual cramps down at the bottom, and I also felt it in my back because I had back labor. Only after several hours did I start feeling it in my entire belly.

    Edit: They were coming 2-4 minutes apart from the beginning, and didn't go away no matter what I did. They were painful, but not super bad. I could actually talk through them until 7-8 cm.

    Sounds like a good possbility of labor...did they keep going?  Should be closer and harder (sorry!)
