3rd Trimester

I'm a nutritional yo-yo...

I swear in these last couple weeks I'm so torn...half the time I want to eat SUPER healthy because I know that reality is going to set in when LO comes and I see my squishy belly.

But since my weight gain has been healthy and not outrageous, I'm also inclined to enjoy the last few weeks of not counting calories (not that I will right away when LO comes, but suddenly I won't be "supposed" to gain weight anymore).

Of course I'm eating lots of healthy foods, but anyone else feel tempted to sneak in a few extra cookies etc. before the weight-gain becomes "real" and you realize you actually have to try to lose it?

  • If you only knew how often I was tempted... and give in. You'd lecture me I'm sure.

  • My weight gain has been reasonable too, but I have not been on my best behavior. My yo-yos, it sounds like, are more extreme than yours. I go from eating super healthy for a few days, and eating total junk for the next couple. I was a big girl to begin with (size 16), and I've been on a perpetual diet it seems like since I was 12. (I have gone from a size 22 to a 16, so progress has been made). However, I feel like this is my one chance to relax a little, so I'll give in and indulge every now and then. I know when baby comes, I'll be back to hardcore dieting.

Don't feel too bad, enjoy a little...it feels like food is my number one enjoyment these days...I'm too tired for most other things :)

But hey, it was the weekend.  And I figure since I can't have beer while I watch football, I may as well have dessert.

This is how I justify it too... if I can't drink my calories, I might as well have cake, riiight? Add some ice cream to that... thanks.

I whole heartedly agree with this mentality. Oreos are nutritional right? It says 2 cookies = 6% of my daily iron intake.

THis is part of the problem...I get full fast therefore I eat small amounts and am starving again in an hour.  I think that's part of why I am craving such rich foods!

At least that's what I tell myself :).

Yeah, it's a vicious cycle.  I keep telling myself that the girls are having a growth spurt today since I haven't really been eating much the last few days.

The whole stomach-the-size-of-a-walnut thing is getting on my last nerve.

At around 23 weeks my OB & I were discussing weight gain, and she told me that I was okay as long as I balance the good stuff out with the bad. I really took that a bit literally and do stuff like this often.

1 chocolate chop cookie? Sure, as long as I eat a banana or 2 afterwards.

Dunk them in milk.  Then there's calcium involved.  Calcium is good for growing babies.

  • I yo-yo because I eat something delicious (say, ice cream) and then think, "Craaap, I should be eating veggies or protein for the baby."

LOL I have been more in to cookies than ice cream...but I hope they're nutritional because I have used my giant glass of milk to justify half a row of Oreos multiples times during this pregnancy haha.

So, I'm thinking candy corn for lunch-dessert and Oreos for dinner-dessert.

You get dessert after every meal when you're pregnant right?

as long as you accompany the dessert with milk (calcium) and chocolate (iron). Good to go, my dear!

    Must. Have. Candy Corn.
