Since I Can't Have Sex...

I might as well dream about it every night. Stick out tongue

Bed rest/pelvic rest = no sex. Most days, I'm totally okay with that because my body hurts. Good thing DH is not the kind of guy to get grumpy without it...in fact, I think he is enjoying the mandatory break as well (I'm kind of an animal ;)

HOWEVER, my hormones are at an all-time crazy right now and I really do think that they have camped out between my legs, reminding me how much sex we are not having. To cope, I eat a few bites of Dove chocolate in bed each night (sorry teeth) and then drift off into a sweet slumber of sexy dreams. Last night, we got frisky on our high school campus. Scandalous!

Anybody else? Probably not...most of you still get to "do it". Luuuuucky!

PS: Nolan is still baking. Yay!! Here we come week 30!

Re: Since I Can't Have Sex...

  • Uh, YES.  It's miserable.  I am on pelvic and bedrest too, and of course, now all I can think about is sex.  All the time.  And then we watch shows on HBO (i.e. Boardwalk Empire) that make me think of it even more.  So brutal.

  • I've been on modified bedrest/pelvic rest since July which is probably a good thing because I have ZERO sex drive this time around. DH keeps reminding me that Jan/Feb is not too far away.

Dove chocolate - it's the closest thing to well, you know. Don't get cheap and skimpy and eat Hershey bars or M&M's. Drastic times call for drastic measures. DH even brings me a glass of milk each night and claims that as his "contribution". Whatever dude, just leave me alone to enjoy my snack.

I checked the PM last night on my phone but fell asleep while trying to reply. Okay, okay...I was eating chocolate. I will reply right now. :)

Since July?  How are you doing with it?

It helps that DH hasn't been around for the whole time but even when he is I just don't feel "in the mood". I'm hoping that after having the baby, my sex drive will go back to how it was.

Good call on the Dove.  We have a See's candy here in Scottsdale, too...maybe I'll hit that up.  My remedy has been Ben and Jerry's Milk 'n' Cookies ice cream.  I never was a huge ice cream buff, but Holy Mother is that stuff good.  Stick out tongue  Maybe you can alternate nights.  Or better yet,  add it to the regimen.   I ask my H to bring me the ice cream and then basically tell him to get lost, lol.  I think he understands though.

  • What exactly is pelvic rest. I know you can't get penetrated, but are you allowed to have orgasms?

It may depend on why you are put on pelvic rest, but for me I can't have orgasms because it would cause contractions and my cervix is already shortened and "soft".

Diddo. I think that for the most part, it is "nothing in, nothing out" so to speak. Or at least that's what dear old doctor tells me. I have heard thought of other women just being restricted from sex so I assume it varies, depending on the situation.

That's why I can't have orgasms either.  I get about a two minute long contraction after I have one.  And then they start to get regular.  I already have issues with them, so this is a big problem.  Sad

  • partial placenta previa ...known since June or July ...miserable.  DH and I try not to talk about it ...seems to make things easier ...what is nice though is that we are getting closer in other aspects of our relationship.

Vanilla ice cream with smashed up butterfingers seems to help :-)

Ok, that is rough. Sorry :( I wouldn't mind no sex right now because it doesn't feel good anyway, but no orgasms would be really difficult!

  • If it makes you feel any better (and I'm sure this is even a stretch), even though I can have sex, and want to have sex (especially since I hit the 3rd trimester), I can't enjoy it when I actually do. I feel so large it's impossible to maneuver myself, not to mention when I finally get to an ok position, it seems to be over :-( I guess what I'm trying to say is that maybe you're not missing out as much as you think. I guess we're all kind of "screwed" in that department until after the baby is born and our bodies go back to some state of normal.

Ok ladies... totally late to the sex party, but I have a question for all you on pelvic rest.  So, you can't have sex (got that) and you can't have orgasms.  What happens if you have a sexgasim?  I've only had 1 of them, and I know for a fact I was having a sexy dream, but I had no control of it!  There was nothing in or out that made that happen.  How do you control those (or do you want too Wink)?

But I'm not having sex either and it's driving me crazy.  Not because I don't want to or am on pelvic/bed rest... It's because DH doesn't like the idea that the one position I find enjoyable is him dominating me.  He says he doesn't want to do that to the mother of his child while the child is inside her.  Disappointment!

I don't know if the first paragraph or the second made me LOL more, but I appreciate it all.  For some reason I haven't had sexy dreams, I think they would be okay though because they always seem more mental than physical.  If I have one sometime, I'll post and let you know, haha.

Your husband is hilarious!  If you want it that way, then it's not really domination because technically you're telling him what to do, y/y?  You should try that argument and see if you can talk him out of it.  TMI, but I'm so horny (thanks, hormones) that I've taken to umm, helping DH out hoping that it will somehow get out my own sexual tension...I think it might make it worse, but at least he's happy.  Embarrassed

You wake up with a huge smile on your face, tuck your little secret into the back of your mind and swear that you will never tell DH or doctor for fear that they might take away your dreams with all other luxuries that seem to disappear when on bed rest.

Really, I have no idea. I don't think I've experienced that and I'm not sure there is a way to prevent them, but I sure hope I don't have one - just because like other gals said, contractions follow and since mine are the full-blown contractions, not just BH, I really don't want to risk it. Imagine explaining that to my doctor... I'm back in the hospital, having this kid early because my sex dream got a little too sexy. Oh, the humiliation! Good thing they don't put detailed info like that on the birth certificate.
