Trying to Get Pregnant

Ladies with 30-32 day cycles

I'm not a regular on TTGP, nor do I usually lurk much, I tend to stick to the12-24 board, but I am TTC right now and so is a friend of mine.

She's on CD 18 and hasn't had a positive opk yet. She normally has a 30 day cycle and normally ov's around day 15 or 16.

So she's worried that she either somehow missed it, or that she is having an anovulatory cycle. Has anyone ever ov'd late with a 30 day cycle, and if so, how late? She's not on the bump so I wanted to get some feedback for her.

I wish she was temping, but she's not so it's hard to know what to tell her. She's been testing twice a day since CD9, so it's unlikely she missed it. And she hasn't had any fertile CM like she usually does. Do you think this cycle is a bust for her or things are just running late?

Re: Ladies with 30-32 day cycles

  • I reguarly ovulate between cd 18 and 22, so yes it is very very possible for her to O later. Could be due to stress, illness, or just a wonky cycle.

  • I only have two charted cycles to relate to, but both have been "normal" length cycles. I O'd on CD24 & then CD21. However, with both cycles I only had 7 day LPs. It's completely possible to O WAY later then CD18.

  • This should make her feel better. Thanks girls!
  • I usually have cycles that are 30-35 days long, but this last cycle was really long. I didn't O until CD 27 (!!), and I normally ovulate around CD 17 or so. It is definitely possible that she could still ovulate this cycle. I would encourage your friend to keep testing; I had nearly given up for last cycle, but it did eventually happen. :)

By the way, I love your "CDO" siggy! :)

  • I o'd on CD19 and am now on CD 32
  • I have been charting for two cycles - both 32 days - and O'ed on days 20 and 21.

My Blog - Taking You Home

  • It looks like the other ladies have you covered but I wanted to add to this quick...

My cycles run between 33 and 47 days. I do have anovulatory cycles now and then (the 47 days ones) so it's hard for me to know when ovulation will happen but on the months that it does it is usually between days 17-23. After talking to my OB about my cycles and being anovulatory, I no longer use OPK (they just aren't reliable and sometimes show a surge during anovulatory cycles... more stress than it's worth!) and instead just plan EOD sex between those days. If your friend is experiencing anovulatory cycles it might be best for her to skip the OPK or not only rely on them and instead just plan to get busy between days 17 - 23 ish :)

  • I typically have 31 to 35 day cycles, depending on when I O. My O range is from CD12 to CD20.
