Gift basket/presents for nurses..

I thought I read somewhere on here at some point that you can make a little gift basket for the nurses at the hospital to bring so they are nice to you when in labor? or am i making this up because the chinese food delivery guy has taken over 2 hours to find my office and is still not here!!

seriously though-- any thoughts?

  • I made up a basket of teas, cookies and other treats they could enjoy on a coffee break and delivered it about a week or so after I had my LO, they really appreciated it! But I don't think that it's expected

  • I'm probably going to bring them a bag of individually wrapped candy.  According to all the nurses here, they like sweets and individually wrapped keeps them from having to throw them away due to germs and all that hospital goodness.

It's not so much that I want better treatment as it is that I believe it's the nurses who do all the work and get none of the love.  They will be putting up with me for Lord knows how long and will deserve a little treat for that alone!!

  • Nope you can do it! The postpartum ward at my hospital is not 100% private so we are going to pick up cupcakes from an amazing bakery near our house assuming it isn't 2 AM. (I REALLY don't want to share a room lol) I would recommend that all food is prepackaged from a store. My mom is a nurse and told me they throw away anything that isn't in a sealed container because of the germ risk. Every hospital is different.

  • I'm gonna bring by a halloween trick-or-treat bucket of fun-size candies with a thank-you card when we are home and settled

  • I was in a small hospital so maybe it is different, by my nurses were SOOO nice (even without bribery)!!!  DH did send them flowers the next day though, and you could tell they were very appreciative.

I think any sign that you appreciate their hard work is great.

I LOVE THIS IDEA! I think you can get those little buckets at target and maybe I will make about 12 or so before hand and I have DH bring it up to them when we leave.
