packing the hospital bag!

Any second (or more!) time mamas: what are some must-haves for your hospital bag? I don't want to over-pack, but I don't want to be stuck wishing I had brought an "obvious" item.

  • There is a post about this down the board.

  • Tooth brush, deodorant, shampoo, your own towel (the hospital ones suck) and comfy clothes. Also something to keep your hubby busy during the early stages of labor because it can get pretty boring. That's honestly the only stuff I actually used. Oh and a camera and appropriate chargers.

  • That seems like alot of stuff...you should ask the hospital if they supply burp cloths, pacifiers etc. When I had my first LO they wouldn't let me put babe in the cute little clothes until I was ready to leave, they kept telling me that the hospital would wash the dirty outfits, burp cloths and recieveing blankets and not worry about it. Also they sent us home with pacifiers and a couple of little baby toques. They also had nursing pillows to use while staying there. Of course I'm not sure if this is stuff you get charged for being in the States, but it might be worth a phone call to ask if they supply that stuff...less to lug back a forth! Also ask if they have tv with DVD players, I was able to bring a couple seasons of my husbands favorite tv shows and that was awesome for passing time....Good luck! ;)
