Moms of un cric'd boys come in please

This may be a little TMI but when my LO wakes up with an erection the very tip of his penis is very red. It does not seem to be causing him any pain but I am wondering if this is normal. There are no other symptoms like discharge. I have a pedi appt nest Monday and will ask but my sons uncirc'd penis is the only experience DH and I have with one. Wondering if any of you may know.

    I have never noticed this on the tip... but my LO's tends to get red underneath and the pedi said it is from it sticking to the scrotum. She said it happens to lots of little boys and said to just put some vaseline or aquaphor on the skin where it is red. Could be that, but maybe not since it is the tip... Maybe it is just contact rash from rubbing on the dipe.

    does it go away the rest of the day? Maybe you wouldn't know because it is tucked in? I plan not to clip my boy's, but I don't have the actual experience yet.

    i would think maybe it could just be the blood that is obviously there because of the erection, but if it is not irritated all the time, then it probably means it isn't an irritation, but just extra blood flow????

    Sometimes the tip of the foreskin is red with DS I think it is usually irritation. I put some ointment on it and it clears right up. I don't think it has much to do with being uncirc. though.

    Sometimes the tip of DS' foreskin is red. I haven't noticed it at any certain time though. I would check to make sure his urine is coming out ok and as long as he doesn't seem bothered by it, I wouldn't worry. :-)

    He is in cloth. I will bring it up to the pedi. Thank you all for your responses.

    Funny! I hardly come on anymore and I signed on tonight to ask this exact question. My pediatrician didn't say much. I looked online (I know that isn't always the best thing) and I found that it sometimes becomes red and irritated because the foreskin is separating from the tip of the penis on it's own. My son gets erections often and he complains when he does. When naked (which is often) he grabs it and yells, "No big pee pee". From what I understand it erects in order for the skin to separate on it's own. My son doesn't ever complain about his red tip and so I guess it's okay. His pediatrician just looked him over at his 2 year appt and we mentioned it and he didn't seem concerned. He's real laid back though. I thought it was from my son's cloth diapers, but he is potty trained now (other than while sleeping) and he is still red and dry there. Good luck!
