I am starting to look at getting a resgistry started. There are a zillion bottles out there . . . any recs or opinions would be fabulous.

Honestly, different babies prefer different bottles. That said, I've found that most babies do well with the Avent bottles.

Things have changed since I used bottles 5 years ago with DD1 but the only thing I can recommend is a bottle that's easy to clean. I used Dr. Browns and Avent and DD had no problem with either but Dr Browns have so many different pieces to take apart and clean. It was a PITA. You will probably read about the Avent bottles leaking but if the nipple is aligned with a marking on the cover properly, there is no leakage at all.
Perhaps you can register for several of the brands starter kits and then see which one works best for you and your baby.
I am now looking at the playtex drop ins. I've heard really good things about them and they are supposed to be easy to use if you are pumping. You can pump into the storage bags and put the bags into the bottle. Also, cleanup is really easy with these bottles.
We LOVED Playtex Vent Aire. Check with your day care provider (if you plan on using one) because a LOT of families get Dr. Brown and Born Free. We wnated something different so there was NO confusion as to which ones were DD's. GL!

playtex drop ins. You only need a couple actual bottles, can buy extra nipples and way fewer parts to clean. Both of my kids like the natural latch nipples too (I BF at home, bottles at daycare). I used ventaires for #1 and got rid of all of them for #2 b/c of all of the parts.

We also used these with DD. She had no problem with them or with nipple confusion.

I'm going to try the Tommee Tippee bottles to start and see if LO likes them. Do you plan to BF? My research has led me to believe that the Tommee Tippee's are good for transitioning BF babies from breast to bottles, since I'll have to pump when I go back to work and he goes to daycare. I think, as of now, they are only available at Babies R Us.
We are going to give Dr. Brown's and Tommee Tippee bottles a try. I'm planning on breastfeeding and pumping so I wanted bottles with a wide neck. We were going to go with Avent instead of Dr. Brown's but Dr. Brown's have a premie nipple if LO needs it. If he doesn't then we will probably give the Avent a try.
Babywearing, cloth diapering, formula and breastmilk feeding, still can't believe I'm a mom, momma to my little man, two furbabies, and two angel babies.
We are going to try Dr. Browns, Tommy Tippee, and Breastflow bottles. The breastfeeding class we took recommended breastflow bottles to use when breastfeeding to minimize nipple confusion.
