3rd Trimester

My subconscious hates the baby

For the past week I have been waking up lying on my tummy. And it actually hurts. I feel like I should get a foam mat and cut out a big hole for my tummy to drop into. I never go to sleep on my baby, but I always wake up on her. WTF me?

Needless to say, I will not be keeping my little flap-jack in bed with me after she is born.

Anyone else done this?

Re: My subconscious hates the baby

  • I don't wake up directly on my belly but sometimes I am as far over on my belly as possible. I used to sleep on my belly so I think it's just what my body is used to. It doesn't hurt me when I wake up though. I would try some pillows if I were you.

  • I haven't woken up on my stomach but even lying on my side I think she gets squished- this morning I felt like I had a mouse trapped under my side only to realize that LO was kicking me like "Ouch! You're on my foot!"
  • Here's my pillow sitch: I have four pillows; one for my head, one between my knees, one that I hug, and one behind me to keep me from rolling. I have a pillow fortress.

I have an OB appt today and I'm going to strongly suggest the man prescribe me a snoogle, as my massivity is a threat to the baby...(And as I want one.)

  • Oh gah I haven't slept on my stomach since the very beginning when I had the horribly achy boobs. I miss it! These days though I can't get comfy no matter how I'm laying so I just toss and turn and hope for the best.

  • semi-related: lasts time i was pregnant i was having some serious hip pain from the sidesleeping. at one point, i took my giant snoogle pillow, coiled it up so that it was round and dropped my belly into it to sleep on my stomach to give my hip a break for a few days. it really worked well!-- probably looked totally ridiculous, but it worked.

That sounds like a good idea! I am so jealous of any person who has one of those pillows.

I did this also. The Snoogle pillow was the best $50 I spent this whole pregnancy. I only have to use one pillow to sleep comfortably. Although, being in the 3rd trimester now I do have hip pain while sleeping and have to toss from side to side at each middle of the night potty break.

  • I have been having hip pain from side sleeping too, I always end up on my back when i wake up, and of course, being a nut job, i freak because of what i've read about sleeping on your back!  I have been debating about splurging on this pillow, because the 8 pillows i use are just not cutting it!  I think that your "coil" idea might have just sold me on it!

  • I don't think your subconscious hates the baby. It may just be your body trying to get comfy. Don't feel guilty, just get a body pillow. It'll help prevent that from happening again. Good luck with your pregnancy.  You'll be fine!
