Trying to Get Pregnant

Cryptic B/W Results

UGH! I'm probably reading too much into it, but I called and actually got a person from my OB's office.  It has been over 2 weeks since my 7dpo b/w.  She told me it was 'Normal'.  I asked if she had an actual number that she could give me and she didn't have it on whatever she was looking at and said that the doctor still has to review it and that she is out recovering from foot surgery and when she returns it will be reviewed by her and they will call me with anything that needs to be done further and next steps.

Maybe I am in a pi$$y mood, but I felt like I wasn't being told something.

Normal has to be good news, but I would rather know if the number.

I still feel all empty inside!

Re: Cryptic B/W Results

  • hmmm, your doc is out and you have to wait to get your bloodwork results back?  There should be someone who is covering for your doctor in his/her absence.  I would ask for a copy of the blood work and go an pick it up.

  • That would make me crazy! My DH's uro did the same thing to us- well his nurse did. Turns out it wasn't normal once the doc looked at the results.

Hopefully not the case for you! Hope you get some answers before another two weeks goes by!!

A voice of reason, and I cannot think for myself! So, it is odd to you too??

SEE!! Sometimes I think I am paranoid! But for heaven's sakes! You can't tell a patient that it is normal but has to be reviewed by the doctor, she should've just said, your results are awaiting to be reviewed by the doctor. Now my stomach is all in knots.

  • I'd have them fax you the results or go and pick up a copy.

I'm a HUGE believer in really needing to be your own advocate.

I've been told results were fine and then researched them myself to find out they weren't really all that fine...

GL babe, I hope everything really is perfect :)

Technically the doctor needs to review and sign off on them.  But still it has been a long time I would just call them back and let them know you are coming in to pick them up and then go get them. All patients have full access to their medical records so you can and should have a copy

  • Ugh I HATE when they do that. They actually did that to me a couple weeks ago when I had bloodwork done at my initial infertility consultation with my PCM. I called after to get my results and they told me they "had to have the doctor interpret the results" before they could tell me. So that got me thinking "Oh crap...what's wrong? Why couldn't they just tell me?"

Then, when I called BACK because I STILL hadn't heard anything a day later they said "Oh it's normal."

WTF?!?! All that and all it was is "it's normal". Ugggh. Had me worrying over nothing!

So anyway, all that long story is to say, try not to stress because it could mean nothing. Good luck!!

  • Ahhhhhhh. That would make me insane! Your Dr. should know how imp. this info. is to you and someone should be covering for them! So sorry they are making you wait.
