Trying to Get Pregnant

Cysts

I've had a few ovarian cysts in the past. Had one my senior year in high school that was pretty large, I forget but I think maybe 3-4 inches in diameter? It hurt like hell. I know they come bigger, but man was that the worst pain ever. (as of yet anyways!) They gave me some pain meds and put me on the pill to prevent them. I haven't had any since then, but I think I've got one now. I went off the pill in late June/early July. Started hurting the middle of last week. It has me doubled over in pain and I'm on the verge of tears. I know they usually come and go with your cycle, and when I get my period it might go away, but my cycle has been averaging 45 days, so I probably won't get it until Oct 15, 18 days. Ugh. I don't know if I can deal with this for 18 more days. Anyone have experience with them?  Are there any other options for preventing them other than being on birth control? I'm going to call my doctor on my lunch break, I'm not sure if they'll have me wait a few days or come right in.

Re: Cysts

  • I have no advice sorry :(  I do know a very close fam member of mine has PCOS and she's been going to an endocrinologist (think just general) since she was diagnosed in HS and is on a few things now including BC (not TTC).  Do you go to one or a general OB/GYN?

  • Like you I had cysts in HS.  I was put on the pill and went off in '08 and got pregnant with my DD on Cycle #1.  I went off of BC in July '10 and just had an issue with cysts last cycle (#3).  I was in a lot of pain like you described, but it was isolated to just 1 day.  I think it was O day.  I was going to wait and see what happens this cycle before I call the dr.  If you are worried, I would try to make an appt to see what your dr says.  Good luck!

  • I had one just a few cycles ago. It was awful! I went to the ER and was told that it had ruptured. The pain changed after it did, it went from a feeling of being stabbed to one of really bad cramps or aches. My doctor pretty much said it was just a fluke thing that happens from time to time and pain meds are really the only thing to do. For me, sleep and heat were the only way to escape the pain.
