Mother's of girls--1st doll??

I have a 2 year old son, but am currently looking for a doll to buy my niece for her 1st birthday. My sister thinks she would really like one, and especially one with hair. I am lost looking at all the dolls out there. Any suggestions? What is your daughter's fave? Any help would be appreciated!

DD doesn't really get the whole doll concept yet but she got a Cabbage Patch Newborn doll that is really adorable and small and easy to handle. She throws her around a lot but the doll itself is really nice.

For Christmas I bought DD a Sleeping Beauty toddler doll ( meaning it is one where Sleeping Beauty is a little girl not an adult or baby). She seems to really like it.

DD has a couple of dolls. for her 1st bday she got Baby Stella. it's cute, only has a little hair, and has a magnetic paci. the only thing DD likes about that doll right now is the paci. she also has 2 first dolls - one from carter's, the other one is called "my first doll". they're more like stuffed animals, and those she likes a lot.

We got dd her first doll around 11-12 mos and she LOVED it! She still loves her dolls. Her first doll was one of the Cabbage Patch newborns. It comes with an outfit and a small bottle.

My son has this baby. He loves him. They come in girls as well. And yes, that baby is anatomically correct. That was important to us.

We bought E her first doll for Christmas. It's called Sensitive Baby, made for kids with allergies. I bought it because it's nice and soft and cuddley and completely washable. However it doesn't have any hair, just a bonnet sewn on. E still has no desire to play with her doll, though.

We just got DD a Little Mommy baby doll, she throws her around then picks her up and hugs her then throws her down again!

Hannah does't really care for her dolls all that much but she loves stuffed puppies and her baby stroller to push around the house.

Pottery Barn kids has really cute dolls. We plan on getting DD one. She has tons of babies already but we want to get another one.

Pottery Barn Kids... we got Abby - she is super cute and her whole body is soft. She really loves her and feeds her all the time. We also have Abby's outfits so we dress and undress her. We got Abby when LO was 8 months old.

DD has one that MIL gave her. It came with a bottle and every time you put the bottle to the baby's mouth, it makes drinking sounds. Then it says "yum" lol. It's her favorite.

DDs didn't really start playing with their babies until the past couple months, but they really love these mini-dolls from Target. They are a great size for them and the love to carry them around.
