My 5 month old is showing ZERO interest in rolling over. He would be perfectly content to hang out sitting up or lying on his back. Anyone else in the same situation? Any tips to encourage him to learn to roll over?
We do tummy time and when he's frustrated with it, he just lays on his tummy with his head down. It's almost like he doesn't know is appendages are there to help him roll over.
Obviously, if he has not made any progress by his 6 month check-up, I will talk to his Pedi about it.
Re: 5 mo old not rolling over?!? Tips please!
Honestly, I don't think my 2 year old ever rolled over. My babies are BIG, so any attempts at rolling over are usually stopped by their big bellies
I wouldn't worry about it. It's really not a big deal and you'll actually soon learn that your LO will do stuff when he's ready, not when he's "suppose" too.

I've read that some babies skip rolling over and sit up right away.
DS rolls over from belly to back but not back to belly. It kinda frustrates me though
My DD is two weeks away from 5 months, and won't roll over in any direction, whether it's back to belly or belly to back. She tried unsuccessfully to roll from belly to back for one week back when she was around 2.5 months old and didn't try again until last week (still unsuccessful). Over the weekend, she stopped trying and seems perfectly content to hang out on her tummy or her back. However, she's really close to sitting "unassisted" (by the tripod method).
The non-rolling thing worries me sometimes (especially when I read here on TB about all these LOs younger than her who are rolling all over the place), but I try not to...I tell myself that all babies are different. Good to know that there are babies out there that never rolled and go straight to sitting!
