3rd Trimester

Sent home :(

I have been having constant, but 10 to 15 minute apart contractions since Friday.  Yesterday they became less than 10, but here is the catch, I wasn't feeling them all and I was having contractions about 5 minutes apart.  After a really bad that last for over 5 minutes my husband called the doctor and we went in.  I am not dilated at all and I am all closed up with contractions every 5 minutes and some are pretty bad.  They sent us home at midnight and of course I got a really bad one on my way home.  Got home, got ready for bed, then had another bad one.  Went to sleep and other then the occasional waking up from the pain, I slept till 10.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them or know some who it has happened to?

  • When your in active labor your contractions will all be very painful and each one will wake you up.

  • Poor girl having contractions for all that time.  With my last pregnancy I had contractions 5-7 minutes apart for 26 hours.  They never got strong enough - I knew they weren't doing what they needed to be doing.  I finally went to the hospital like you did.  I was 3 cm - up from 1 cm 2 days before.  Once I went to the hospital they slowed down.  I went home and they finally stopped later that day.  A week later I had my daughter after only 2-1/2 hours of labor.  I hope that the contractions either stop for you or that you finally start dilating.  Good luck!

  • Yep...for 2 days with DS#2...went in for induction due to Pre-E and they had gotten me to a whopping 2 cm. My actual labor was pretty short, only 4 hours from the time they got my settled in the hospital to birth...so I wont complain...

  • Even though not all of the contractions have me in tears, more than half of them stop me from walking...and I feel like I didn't get everything done at work that I needed to get done before I left - I'm a teachers and I feel like I let a lot of people down!
  • This is what I worry about... I won't want to chance going out to work and getting stuck at work if I am having contractions.  I work 40 minutes from home, but 10 minutes form the hospital.. but won't want to spend labor at work or go to hospital too early. But I can't take like 4 days off just waiting around since it's the busiest time of year.

I hope things progress for you....

  • my contractions have been about 6-8min apart from the past two days.  however they are all still bearable and i'm supposed to wait til they're 5min apart to go to the hospital.
