I know we need to go to the store and test drive the strollers, but OMG, looking at that section in Baby Bargains just makes my head start to spin.
How did you par it down??

Re: Is anyone else overwhelmed w/stroller & carseat options??
OMG YES! and we're having multiples so it was even more complicated, I think!
But after reading a ton of stuff online, checking Consumer Reports, asking q's on the multiples board, and talking to friends, we bit the bullet and yesterday went to a baby boutique store (TRU/BRU does not have a ton of strollers on the floor at their location near my house, and at Walmart you won't get knowledgeable help)...and the "dedicated" stroller rep at this store was SO helpful.

Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
With carseats I researched the safest seats on the market and went from there. Price was no option so we went with what was considered the safest, worked well in our SUV, and had the the features we were looking for. They aren't the prettiest but I know my babies will be safe.
For the stroller, we narrowed down side by side double strollers. And then found a local place that had them. We took them for a test drive. I think strollers are super tough. They have different options. You have to consider weight. it is just a tough decision to make.
I'm still working on the carseat issue but we have decided on strollers. What helped me was the part in Baby Bargains that said there really is no "one" perfect stroller and that often you need more then one.
We asked around, friends with kids, neighbors etc. and narrowed it down b/c of the activity we will use it most. We live in an area that is by the water so we needed a all terrain type (for the sand, uneven walkways etc.) so we ended up choosing the BOB. We also registered for a cheap snap and go to use with the infant seat (winter baby so he won't be out in it much) that will be good for quick mall trips or travel.
We'll wait for awhile and then probably buy ourselves an umbrella stroller thats light and small for travel - like a Mclaren or something.
I wish we had one!! The nearest location is three hours away...........but I might be heading up that way in mid-Oct....we might have to make a stop.

With #1 we just bought a Graco travel system. Hated that behemoth. Bought a Maclaren after using a friend's in NYC and loved that it folded so small so could fit easily in the car.
Now I'm unsure what to get with twins, though. I should probably just get another Maclaren b/c the folding thing is still important to me. Double strollers are just insane.
Convertible carseats were harder decisions for me.
We went to BRU and tested out strollers to find the one we liked. We went with the Evenflo Aura travel system mostly because of the carry option on the carseat. The handle has a zig zag in it so that you can carry it at your side comfortably. We've actually seen it out IRL but I've only ever asked one couple how they liked it (not the best testimonial...but the people seemed a little odd so I took it with a grain of salt lol).
As for when we move to a convertable carseat...I have no clue how we will choose. We'll probably end up each choosing one, one for each vehicle, based on research and what we like.
Looked at Baby Bargains, read reviews, lurked on Multiples, but in the end it came down to trying stuff out and examining strollers against where we live and our lifestyle.
We went with the DSNG (used) for the first 6 months.
A Maclaren Twin Techno for our lightweight/everyday stroller and the Baby Jogger Summit XC for our jogging stroller that we can also use for the beach (I'm a runner when I'm not KU so having a jogger was not an option for us!)
Had we been having a singleton and I wasn't a runner, I probably would have gotten the uppa baby vista or the baby jogger city mini (which I loved when we tried it out) and just a BRU brand umbrella stroller for when we travel.
ETA: for carseats I went with the lightest I could find that also came with the best reviews on both Baby Bargains and Consumer Reports. We ended up going with the Chicco KeyFit and I'm super happy with it. I've heard great things about the Graco SnugRides too, but they were about a pound and a half heavier than the CKF, I figured x 2 that was an extra three pounds I had to carry.
Again, nothing beats going to see things in person and trying them out and actually collapsing things/using them in the store. Some products you will love and others will make you want to tear your hair out
GL!
