Packing for Seattle & Need Help

Any Seattle-ites around here?!?

I'm packing for a 4 day girl's trip to Seattle and I'm having a hard time with packing. It says the weather while I'm there (Weds-Sun of this week) will be highs in the 70's, lows in the 50's. I have no idea how to pack for this weather since it's could be hot, could be cool!

We're going to be doing A LOT of walking outside and doing all the touristy stuff. We'll also have about 1 or 2 nights out on the town.

So what kind of stuff would you pack for this?? So far I have jeans or casual long pants, long sleeve shirts, long sleeve cardigans, lightweight scarves, and flats for the days.

For nights I have a casual dress with leggings underneath and a more fancy dress (like a work dress) w/ a black cardigan.

Does that sound about right?? Any tips are appreciated!

ETA: Oh and I also have one lightweight/weather-proof jacket!

  • Sorry, I don't have any packing advice because I have never been there, but MH and I are thinking of going in February, so I can't wait to hear about your trip when you get back!

    Have fun!

  • I usually wear jeans and a short sleeved shirt with a hoodie or cardigan for day to day wear.  If you are going to be walking around, it may be too hot for a long sleeved shirt if the sun decides to come out.

    DON'T FORGET AN UMBRELLA!!!!

But honestly, pants, any kind of shirt, and some sweaters/cardigans/sweatshirts is perfect!! Our weather changes every 5 minutes, so layers are key. The temps can shift up to 20 degrees is a 24-hour period and can go from blue and sunny to dark and stormy in an instant!!!

And be sure to hit up the Saturday market...very fun!!!

Hiiiiiii Kdg!!! I've been good! Just trying to distract myself from this 2ww and getting excited for my trip! It's a mini-reunion with some of my college girlfriends so it should be fun.

What have you been up to?!? How's school??

Good to know! Maybe I'll sub in short sleeve shirts for a couple of the long sleeve ones. I HATE being hot so that would not be good. :)

Do people dress pretty casual there? That's what my friend who lives there told me but I don't know if I believe her since she's a very laid back person. Haha!

Ah yes, the umbrella! I need to remember to grab that out of my car and put it in my suitcase! Thanks for the reminder!

My friend who lives there has the whole itinerary planned out so I'm sure she hass included that market. :)

Yeah, people seem to dress pretty casual here.  I remember seeing the show "What not to wear" when they came to Seattle.  They commented that everyone looks like they are ready to go on a hike lol.  It's not that extreme, but we are not the fashion capitol of the world...

I am a TERRIBLE packer too! I just don't have enough forethought to really think about what I will need/want to wear. So then I get to where I'm going and hate everything that I brought. Haha it's bad!

So this time I'm trying to plan out way ahead of time so I can get it right. Let's hope I don't hate everything I packed when I get there! :)

  • Yes. Washington and Oregon are hippie/liberal havens...lots of Berkenstoks (sp) and flannel!!! LOL...Seriously though...it's true :)

Laid back is the norm. Jeans, cute tops, scarves...Seattle is a little bit more trendy since it is a big city, but it is still pretty casual compared to others.

Seattle's Best and Starbucks coffees are more common than fancy purses Stick out tongue

Couldn't agree more. Layers, layers, layers. The weather has been nice, but you never know what is going to happen.

Enjoy Seattle, it's beautiful and there are so many fun things to do!
