need help: diaper changing is a nightmare!

This kid will not let me put his diaper on, ever! He is a corkscrew!  I used to be able to give him a book or a toy and he would lay there for at least 5 secs, but now it has become impossible!! Any tips?  Is this a phase, or is it just going to get worse?  Maybe I should start ECing, does that work?  We CD, and he is too small for the disposable nappy pants any way (I can't remember what Americans call them, pull-ups or something?).  TIA!

    When DS does this, I get the dipe under his bottom, blow raspberries on his belly which makes him giggle and kick his legs straight. Before he unlocks his knees, I whip the Dipe up. Then I fasten the Velcro as he goes back into his yoga pose. GL

    We've been through that stage as well.  For pee diapers I got real good at changing them standing up.  I also use all sorts of distraction - silly songs and faces were the most consistently helpful.  I also got him into identifying body parts.  He was obsessed with his belly  button for a long time so I would make a big deal about it hiding and us finding it and that bought me some time.

    Oh yes- we're there too. We do a lot of diaper changes with DD standing on the bathroom counter obsessing over that baby in the mirror. We EC, so I'm usually dropping her diaper in the bathroom anyways. So now we're getting better at putting the new one on while standing too.

    We EC, and haven't had a poopy diaper in several weeks so it's definitely helped with that!  Also we use prefolds during the day with no cover and we fasten in the back so I go ahead and let her roll to her tummy, put something in front of her to look at and snappi in the back.  I've even gotten pretty good and fastening while she's crawling away.

    A challenge I think most of us are going through, have gone through, or will go through.  I think I am going to have to the backward fastening of diapers.  Those #2 diapers are definitely a challenge though.  DS hates being in #2 diapers the instant it happens and then kicks and squirms the entire time I try to change him.  It has created some pretty big messes.  Gag!
