Dog acting out...

Has anyone else had there pets act out because they know something is up? Well Bailey (my chocolate lab) is getting into everything. Her favorite thing is getting things, mostly food off of the counters. Doesn't matter how far back we put stuff she always gets it down. Lately we have been good and don't leave anything out. But when DH left for work after me he didn't check to make sure things were put away. So she munched on some fruit that was out and took down a bag of pasta and ate all of it. It was all over the floor and now we don't have dinner for tonight!!!!! I'm so tired that I don't want to go out to the store!

I don't know what to do anymore, I'm scared to leave anything out worth of value that's LO's.

I am so pissed at my dog I can't even look at her! Angry

Re: Dog acting out...

  • Yes (well, NOT the counters/food), and unless you retrain him now it will get worse as he will be getting even less attention.

  • Is your dog still getting as much exercise as before? I know when Oakley doesn't get his walk, he gets real out of hand because he has all that extra energy from being cooped up.

  • Nothing has changed, except that she can't sit on my lap anymore. Yup she's a 75lb lap dog! And the fact that everything is changing in the house to perpare for LO. We let her go in LO's room and sniff everything out so she doesn't feel left out. Who knows what will happen when we bring her home! And baby gates don't keep her out of anything. She can jump right over it.

  • One of mine has been acting out too!  Barking at everything....stealing pillows and remotes, getting into food!  I was just thinking the same thing.  It might be a lack of exercise.  Or they might know something is coming...

  • My dog is the same way, so we leave her in the garage during the day when we are not home. We tried baby gates, just she figured out that if she jumped at the top of them she could knock them over. My Chessie is one smart cookie! We can't even leave her in the house for a quick trip to the grocery store with ANYTHING on the counter. She's chewed on oven mitts, towels, an entire bag of cinnamon English muffins, cardboard boxes, etc. (you get the picture). She knows that something is up because she won't stop sniffing people's crotches because apparently mine smells "different". Albeit, pretty funny to watch my friends freak out when she does it!
