So I have a prosthetic leg. And since 24 weeks it's been tight and VERY uncomfortable but I could at least wear it a few hours a day to get things done. Until today- my leg is so swollen that I can't get my prosthetic on at all. And let me tell you crawling is not fun! Any ideas on how to get the swelling down a bit?
Re: My leg wont go on :(
I'm so sorry. I thought it was bad that I couldn't get my shoes on, but your situation puts things into perspective for me.
I've been told to elevate my feet and rest as much as possible, but also to not stay in the same position too long either, to make sure I'm well hydrated and avoid salty foods. I've tried cool baths, massages to help blood flow, etc. I can't say much of it has helped a lot, but I hope some of the advice I've gotten works for you!
I get a new one every 3-5 years- depends on how much I wear it out. I actually need a new one now but doesnt make sense to get it replaced with all the swelling issues. Esp at $12,000-15,000 a leg I am sure my insurance company would like if I waited!
