bottle recs for breastfed baby?

Hi all - my little one is 4 months old and exclusively breastfed.  I want to pump and start using bottles sometimes, but she won't take the one I'm giving her.  I'm just using the one that came with the breast pump.  Any recommendations?

  • My DS does really well with Born Free bottles.

  • GL-DS is 3.5 months old and I go back to work next week and he wont take any bottle. We have tried Dr Brown's, Playtex Nurser, Nuk, Breastflow, Born Free, Medela and he wants no part of any of them. I even left house for 5 hours yesterday so DH could feed him and he still would not give in to the bottle. Ughhh...someone mentioned Adiri so I may try that, hopefully you have more success!
  • Try Mybreastflow or Tommie tippie. She may still refuse though. At some point stick with one bottle.

same here. Back to work next week. The daycare told me she will eat, but she may have a few days of protest. I'm dreading this week. She starts on Tuesday. We have tried all the same bottles and other people. She has held out for 5 hrs as well. I am hoping the new environment will make her take the bottle.
  • I highly recommend Born Free.
  • I spent a fortune bottle hunting only to find that cheap old latex nipples were the trick. Warm them Under the sink and voil?!

  • I registered and started out with Dr. Browns. He had trouble with them so I went with the Playtex drop-ins and we've done fine ever since.

  • I rarely give DD a bottle but when we do, she will usually take the Breastflow and often takes the Avent.  She will have no part of the Playtex Drop ins.
  • My EBF DD went on a bottle strike for awhile. Someone here recommended heating the milk up really warm and that seemed to do it for her! She just likes her milk REALLY warm. FWIW, I use the medela bottles that I just pump into. We tried Born Free, but she is really petite and the nipple took up half her mouth. The medela nipples are smaller and she takes those well (now that her milk is warm). :-)

  • We use Tommee Tippee. If she won't take any bottles, you could think about introducing a cup instead. See Kellymom.

  • we have bottle issues as well.  she was okay with the Breastflow ones for a little bit cause the nipple is smaller and softer, but i think it was making her too gassy.  right now we're working with the playtex dropins w/ a latex nipple.  sometimes she takes it, sometimes she doesn't.

  • My pedi recommended playtex drop-ins, so that's what we use.  She's had no issues with them.
  • My vote is for Dr. Brown's.  We use that with my DD and she's never had an issue with it.

  • DD does well with both Dr Brown and Born Free and I agree that warming the nipple and milk well is a good idea if you're having trouble.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions..I think I'll try warming the milk a little more, as well as the nipple.  As for which brand to try...we'll just have to look until we find what she likes. :)  It's usually not an issue, since I'm home with her during the day, but we're going on a week-long cruise in six weeks and she is staying with my mom - she's got to take a bottle while we're gone!
  • We use lifefactory glass bottles & E took them right away.
