Mucus plug?

After I went to the bathroom at church this morning and was washing my hands, all of a sudden I felt something "drip" out of me and thought maybe it was just some discharge...later I went to the bathroom again and it looked like a chunk of mucus/jello.

It wasn't bloody or anything, just clear/yellow tinge to it.

Anyone know roughly how far the cervix typically dilates before someone looses the mucus plug?

It's probably different for everyone. I began dilating somewhere within the last two weeks, and starting losing my MP last week. I was dilated to 3cm on Tuesday.

You may not be dilated at all.

I didn't lose mine until after I started having labor contractions, but it came out between 1-2 cm.

I was only 1cm when I lost mine, but I don't know if that's typical.

Not sure about the dilation thing, but you can lose the MP days-weeks before delivery. It can grow back. It doesn't really tell you much. I lost mine when I was already at the hospital, along with some of my water, and I was at 4cm then.

I'm having my 3rd baby. Never lost it with the previous. Last night a piece of mine fell out and as of Friday I was only dilated 1cm.

dilated 1 1/2 cm as of friday and began losing mine today, too. labor could be in 2 days or a week or more off but it's one more thing to check off the prelabor list so i feel like that's some progress!
