Can I let X nap on his belly

if I watch him like a HAWK? Seriously, I have my finger under his nose so I can feel him breathe.

Is there another reason that belly sleeping is bad, other than the baby not having great head/neck control (which he's actually pretty good at when I watch him, never has planted his nose on where he sleeps) and suffocating when unable to turn his head/neck side to side?

This is the ONLY way he'll nap and b/c of my surgery I cannot wear him in my Moby which is how I got him to nap before. I never leave him unattended on his belly, he's sleeping right next to me.

  • i would be worried that he'd get used to only sleeping that way and then you'd be stuck watching him like a hawk every time he sleeps...

  • I let A nap on her belly and she doesn't have a problem transitioning to sleep on her back at night. I think it might have to do with the fact that we swaddle at night and not during naps.

  • I agree that I think it is fine if you are right there with him.  I never had a problem transitioning Natalie from tummy sleeping to back sleeping in her rock n play sleeper.
