Pregnant after IF

Sooo what does carpel tunnel feel like

Because its going to take me forever to even type this out and I have 8 more days of work left too!

My hands are extremely swollen. They are like sausages, no exaggeration. I had already replaced my engagement and wedding rings with cheapies that are 2 sizes bigger than normal weeks ago. Now starting 3 days ago, I can't even fit my watch over my hand to put it on, I have to open both clasps to put in on and off. I also have lightening shooting pain on my right wrist from time to time.

  • Mine is just that tingling "fell asleep" feeling in my hands when typing or doing my makeup.

    Hope your swelling goes down!

  • I would talk to your doc about your hands being so swollen, that is a sign of pre-e (don't mean to scare you).  I have carpal tunnel in both my hands right now and although they are bigger than pre-pg the biggest symptom is my middle three fingers and wrist hurt (some days worse than others).

  • My fingers are swollen as well, and I also have pain in the joints of my fingers. Also my wrists are slightly swollen and painful to rotate; I've been wearing a brace to keep them stable which helps. I have a difficult time opening bottles and even grasping things. It's PIA, but I hear it goes away after pregnancy.

  • Yup... sounds about right.  I had all of that, my hands would fall asleep at night and they hurt like hell!

The good thing is, it did go away right after delivery!

This is how it feels for me.  And they go numb when I sleep.

  • I had with both pregnancies! I had tingling feeling in hand that sometimes felt like it was asleep but than it went to pain extreme were i couldn't use the hand. It went away after I had the twins but with Brady it didn't go away in the left hand so I had the surgery to fix it when he was 4 months old.

I would talk to your doctor though because swelling could also be a sign of pre-e but it could be from the carpal tunnel. I also suggest getting wrist guard to wear all the time also maybe the night time once that are made for sleeping. i used both and it did help

  • I am starting to feel little twinges of it - and a few years ago when I was working insane hours on a project and before I had an ergonomic keyboard, I had pain in my wrists and started wearing guards on them at night while I slept - it really helped.

Well...good thing I kept them because I am going to start wearing them again to be on the safe side. Might be worth checking them out or asking your doc - they have a hard piece of plastic that keeps your wrists straight and fabric that wraps around and secures with velcro - easy to put on. Also if you work at a desk, an ergo keyboard is about $60-80 and TOTALLY worth it - takes a couple of days to get used to it but really helps align your hands better.

    B/G twins!
