We tailgated last Saturday in hot weather and did lots of walking. I stayed extremely hydrated but my ankles and feet swelled. Scared me. I went to the Dr for my regular visit on Tuesday and he thought it was normal. It went down a few days this week but was back yesterday. I was on vacation this week but I finished all of the baby's room and cleaned out closets and reorganized this week so I really spent the entire week on my feet. I am in retail so I am on my feet 9 hours a day usually and hadn't had any swelling as of yet. We are going to tailgate again today. I am going to stay off my feet with them propped up today and stay away from the high sodium food. Anyone else have some suggestions? Deanne
Re: Swollen ankles anyone???
The swelling is a result of the heat, overdoing it, lack of hydration, and lack of elevation. It can also signal high blood pressure and pre term labor (sorry to scare you there). So as long as you feel fine, and you don't have the thumping in your ears from high blood pressure or other high BP signs then I think you just need to drink a ton of water and keep your feet up.
I have had no issues with swelling. But I do notice that when I don't get enough water in my wedding ring is a bit snug. To help me get my water I bought some Crystal Light Naturals, I prefer the pink lemonade, no artificial colors, sweetners, etc. I drink that up and before I know it I have 40oz in by noon.
