So apparently the side effect of watching Hoarders - The urge to clean house... My house is a horrible mess, not as bad as what's on tv, but seeing the houses on that show scares me.  

So - in the past hour or so, I've cleaned up my living room, and started in on the pile (very large pile) of clean laundry that  I haven't gotten around to hanging/folding in quite some time.  I'm currently taking a break, but have every intention of finishing the laundry pile and dishes (not that many of them) before DH gets home from work in about 2 hours. I'm quite proud of my accomplishments so far, but still so much to do.

    Good luck!!

    I might have to start watching that show to motivate myself to clean.

    My roommates and I make Sunday the clean house day. We go crazy but sometimes I can't watch that Hoarders show, some of the stuff that is in the house just makes me sick. Human Waste, rotting food, etc. Nasty. I feel horrible for the children that have to live and grow up in those types of homes. Even worse if they pick up the hoarding habits

    We don't actually have cable, just have Netflix hooked up to our X360.  I noticed it available earlier this week, and finally turned it on today... that was the first time I've watched it, and I have a feeling I'm going to be doing so more often!  Good thing about it - I have it available whenever I want to watch it!

    Ah, the notorius laundry pile! I have one of these quite often. Especially since I've been pregnant. I'll  have just enough energy to throw the laundry in, get all of the other housework done in time to switch it over, then it gets put in a laundry basket.. where it stays until the next time I have an energy spurt. I just wish my FI would stop dumping it out all over the floor looking for an outfit and leaving it for me to clean up every day! lol

    Luckily enough, DH is good about not spreading it all over the place, or at least puts it back in the pile if it does get tossed out.  I think the pile is starting to get on his nerves though.

    This is so funny that you posted this! I just made dinner while dh picked out a movie on Netflix to put in our instant que online. So he picks Hoarders season 1. I cannot eat and watch that show! It makes me physically ill when I see piles of old rotting food in their beds, and dead cats under their kitchen tables! Yuck!

    I think it's season 1 I've been watching.  I think I watched about 3 episodes through the day.  Well... Watched 1 episode, then cleaned and listened to the others.

    Hoarders has the same effect on me. Unfortunately, I always watch it late at night when I'm too tired to actually do any cleaning. But it does make me want to clean!

    Sigh, I wish it was more of a motivation factor for me. Mainly I just sit there, pity the poor people on the show and then get real happy that my place doesn't look that way. We may not have a sparkling home but everything has its place and looks nice most of the time! Good luck with the cleaning. Maybe next time I watch the show, I will remember this post and THEN start cleaning!!
