Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Not that this is related to my other question at all....

How far would you drive (hours-wise) by yourself?

Would it make a difference if you drove at night or during the day?

How far would you drive by yourself with LO?

Again, would it make a difference if you drove at night or during the day?

Re: Not that this is related to my other question at all....

  • I drove 24 hours by myself. I did stop half way and sleep for about 5 hours in a hotel. Makes no difference to me if it's day or night

I've driven about 10-11 hours by myself with LO.

It's easier to leave when she normally goes to bed so she sleeps the entire way. She does ok driving during the day, but it's a lot easier to have someone in the back to entertain her.

  • I think the longest I would drive happily would be about 6 hours.  I would plan a meal stop and some time for DD to cruise around and play somehow about 3-4 hours in.  I would prefer to begin EARLY in the morning.  I would hate to get to my destination in the late afternoon or evening and then have a wide awake baby!

  • I don't like driving at night, so that's out of the question. I would drive, with out a break, 2 hours max. I would need to get out and stretch. Max in a whole day, about 7-8. I don't like being in a car and LO's would get "cabin fever"

  • I've driven 15 hours by myself and I would do it with LO too. I think for one day at a time 15 hours in a day would be my max.

Day or night driving doesn't really matter to me for either.

How far would you drive (hours-wise) by yourself?  Well, it "Depends"......

Would it make a difference if you drove at night or during the day? Yes. Highbeaming fools is not as fun during daylight.

How far would you drive by yourself with LO?  To the mall.

Again, would it make a difference if you drove at night or during the day? No. Yes. Wait...was I supposed to have changed my mind. I don't get the joke...... :P

  • I've driven 16 hours by myself several times, stopping only to pee, get gas, and go thru a drive thru.  I haven't done it by myself in a long time (that sounds really dirty) but we usually leave in the middle of the night/early morning.  I think driving with LO would depend on if I stopped halfway.  I could do the 16 hours by myself and time would not matter.

  • The longest drive I've ever made solo was 12 hours, I think it sucks. I didn't really care if it was day or night, but I'm not a scaredy cat. Anything over that, I just fly at this point in life.

The longest car ride I have taken with DD1 when she was smaller was 9 hours.  It went well as long as she was entertained by the DVD player.

I drove 8 hours solo with both kids in July, and the baby did really well.  I was shocked at how well it went.

  • How far would you drive (hours-wise) by yourself? I've driven 36 total hours (12 hours x 3 days) across country from NY to AZ

Would it make a difference if you drove at night or during the day?I drove mostly during the day, I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing it mostly at night, too sleepy

How far would you drive by yourself with LO? probably 6 hours, that would be to the IL's

Again, would it make a difference if you drove at night or during the day? I'd have to say late evening into the night, so I could stop at around her bedtime (7) to go to the restroom, get some food and feed her and then she would sleep the last 3 hours until we got to the IL's

  • I must be the only one that doesn't like to drive alone. I have never driven more than an hour by myself. I have driven 6 hours before, but with a car full of people. I prefer to drive during the day, driving at night makes me sleepy. I won't drive far alone with Lo, around town and that's about it lol.

  • I drove from Chicago to Los Angeles by myself in a U-Haul. So four days of about 9 hours of driving each. I felt like such a bada$$ for get that beast of a truck over the Rockies. Didn't really end up doing too much night driving though. I think the longest I've driven alone at night is 4 hours.

    .

  • I've driven plenty by my self.  And with two kids in tow.  We're in Dallas and I've gone to Texarkana and to Waco.  It wasn't that bad really.  But then again my kids are always great in the car.

  • I've driven 6 hours at night with DD (our flight was canceled and I didn't want to sleep in the airport. It wasn't a big deal at all. I'd probably not go farther than one day (so maybe 10 hours?) by myself with DD.
  • I've made a 14 hour drive by myself a few times (from Miami to NC).  It wasn't bad at all...in fact I kind of enjoyed it.  I did have the dog to keep me company, though.

Now, with DS...I probably wouldn't want to drive more than a couple of hours.  He gets really cranky after being in the carseat for a while, and either DH or I eventually have to get in the backseat with him.
