Anyone want to play?

I can't sleep because of my stupid tooth and I saw this on the age boards, thought it would be fun to bring over here.

Tell us something that we don't know about you!

Re: Anyone want to play?

  • I was a professional ballerina (on point and all) from the age of 12 until I shattered my knee caps when I was 14.

I learned how to shoot when I was 6, got my first shotgun at 12, have my own mini arsinal now, and go shooting almost every week.

I also learned to throw knives and tomahawks when I was 10.

    Your turn!

I'm a major couponer and get a HUGE rush from getting all that money off at the checkout.

i love coffee. sometimes it doesn't even bother me if i have to go by the hospital to drop off a lab after hours because i can run by the doctor's lounge and get coffee with the keurig.

  • I'm an avid birdwatcher.  I keep track of how many bird species I've seen.  I've traveled all over Europe, Australia, China, Mexico, and the United States -- just to see birds.

  • I played softball my entire life, and I will never let my daughter do that!

DH was supposed to be a one night stand.

I sometimes wish I didn;t have children so that I could join the army. I know I could do it with children, but I can't stand the thought of leaving them for that amount of time.

On a high school career aptitude test, I tested most likely to become a teacher or a forest ranger.

  • I used to smoke cigarettes, 2 packs a day.  I quit cold turkey in 2006 and never looked back.  Since then, I have become a crazy health nut and finished my MS degree in Exercise Science & Health Promotions.

I am a weather nerd.  I know all of the different types of clouds and secretly want to be a storm chaser.

I am obsessed with A1 steak sauce.  I could eat it on anything, from mashed potatoes to a cheese sandwich.  Embarrassed

  • I'm new around these parts - but I like you ladies, so I've been lurking around here. So I'm game to play...
I am insanely picky about food. Sometimes when I order its easier to say the things i want instead of what i don't want. I hate onions, tomatoes, cilantro, mushrooms, peppers, fish (except sushi), milk, mustard, bananas... I am so terrified about when my daughter gets older. I don't want her to be as picky as me so I feel like i need to just suck it up and start eating this stuff.
I went to art school and have a degree in illustration. I had wanted to go into animation and I really wish I had. Or I wish I was better at math so I could do something science related.
I am obsessed with podcasts. This American Life, Radiolab, The Moth, Stuff You Should Know... I am so far behind since my daughter was born!
I wish I lived in San Francisco. I love it there but its just so expensive! Plus my mom would kill me if i took her only granddaughter across the country.
  • I've pretty much only ever listened to punk rock. DD "saw" Rancid when she was in the womb. I destress by listening to old Social Distortion or Operation Ivy as loud as possible in our Volvo when I'm alone.

  • I am writing a book about being a career mom, diary style. I have written a novel but not managed to find a publisher yet. I find it easier to write than to find agents and publishers. I still hope one day to see a book of mine in print.

OMG, total heart!! I used to play Rancid and Rise Against on my iPod and put the headphones against my belly so DS could listen!! DS "saw" NoFX and Bad Religion in the womb Big Smile

I love where we live but part of me misses punk rock shows so much I want to move back home to Dublin. I went to SO many shows the year before I left to come here and I've been to ONE here. I got drunk with Goldfinger, met The Vandals, danced on stage with Dropkick Murphy's and even got given Billie Joe Armstrongs guitar pic.

    Okay, and back on topic...

I moved out of home for the first time when I was 21. I packed up my stuff and moved from Ireland, halfway around the world to New Zealand, a country where I know a total of 2 people. I took 4 months off work so I could learn to snowboard, fell in love, first with snowboarding then with DH and never went home! Oops.

  • I'm an opera singer.  I went to a conservatory of music for both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees.  I also play piano and violin.

I knew I was going to marry DH before he even said one word to me.  Literally.  I served him a drink at the restaurant I was working in (as a backpacker), he looked up and smiled, and I immediately went back and told everyone in the kitchen that I was going to marry the gorgeous blue eyed guy at table 180.  And 2.5 years later, I did!  :)

I'm an avid world traveler and moved halfway across the world six years ago on a whim (by myself and knowing no one)...yet I'm totally and completely TERRIFIED of flying.  Like, badly terrified.  I freak out for months before flights and I had to take Xanax for every flight until I had DD and couldn't anymore.  But I just love travel so much that I force myself on the plane every time.

l used to be quite overweight.  I then lost over 100 pounds on WW eight years ago and kept it all off until I got pregnant.  I'm almost back there again...woot!

Heh, awesome! I came here 6 years ago too. And it's never too late to learn... flights are super cheap now and you can fly direct to Queenstown. Cheaper to come to NZ then head down to Threadbo!

Funny thing is, I too know I was going to marry DH before we even spoke. I arrived to a party at his house with a friend who was a friend of the girl his friend was dating (2 of my bridesmaids and his groomsman!). He stood up to come over and say hi and as soon as I saw him I knew! Weird eh Big Smile

dh is younger than me... i was a senior in high school and he was a freshman when we started dating

wow I didn't realize how hard it would be to think of something... i guess thats all i have for now!

  • I was engaged when I met DH. I broke my fiances heart when I ended things with him, but I knew he wasn't for me and just didn't have the guts to do anything about it until 4 months before we were supposed to get married.

I have 4 friends that i've been friends with since the 8th grade. We still keep in touch religiously, even though I've moved all around with the military.

I'm from Georgia, but moved to Alaska when I was in the AF and LOVED it, which I really didn't expect. DH and I plan to move back there one day.

I read constantly. It's my favorite thing.

  • I did color guard all throughout highschool and did winter guard on an independednt professional team a few years after. I REALLY miss it. Also I don't drive, it is one of the things I hate telling pepole. Thye look at me so wierd. Most pepole just think DH and I share a car. But the honest truth is I love car rides but the thought of actully driving myself sends me into panick. I walk or ride the bus or wait for DH to go with me. I have considered seeing someone to help me with the fear. It is kinda sad and pathetic... LOL.

  • DH was my first BF, we started dating when I was 16 and he was 18.

My sophomore year of high school I triple-lettered for varsity sports (volleyball, soccer, and swimming).

I never liked my brown eyes until I saw them on DS.

I LOVE Pepsi and Slurpees.  When DS was having tummy troubles I switched to Caffeine Free Pepsi, and I actually like it better than the regular kind.

I have a degree in fashion design.

I love piggy banks.  I have a small silver one my grandma gave me, a big silver one she gave to Connor, and we have a "my 1st piggy bank" for Connor.  Yesterday I saw a chalkboard piggy bank and had to work really hard not to buy it.  I don't want to be "the piggy bank lady."

Calla lilies are my favorite flower.

I love reading, but don't very often anymore because I get so engrossed in books, and I don't want to take so much of my attention away from DS.

I have zero self control when it comes to junk food, but I haven't slipped up once (on purpose) on my diet for DS, and I'm so proud of myself for that.

    I love my pp body.

    I LOVE blankets.

I don't watch scary movies because they'll keep me up at night for months, and I don't like being scared.

I don't drink.  The most alcohol I've had is a sip of someone else's drink.

  • Some of you might already know this, but until DD I was a SSgt in the Air Force. That's how I met DH, we were in technical training together. I was an aircraft mechanic and I am sooo not the type. I hated being dirty all the time!

I was on my final round of clomid when DD was conceived. They had already tested my progesterone levels and told me I did not ovulate that month. I was so depressed that I went to the doctor and got a script for zoloft. The very next morning I took a pg test on a whim and it was positive. I'm still in shock that we have a kid!

    I didn't get my liscence till I was 21.

I was voted best actress in my high school year book and always thought I'd pursue a career in theater make up.

DH and I were married once before...to each other! We were young and thought we had rushed into things so we got divorced and stayed apart for a year only to realize we couldn't live without each other!

Me too!  How funny.  DH is an opera singer and that's how we met...in school and then years later contracted to sing Mr and Mrs Ford together in Falstaff.  That was 9 years ago this month...

We both quit the business in 2008.  He's studying to become a nurse and I landed a job as a the education manager for a nonprofit music organization for women.  And I am earning my MBA in Nonprofit Management.  So the only singing we do these days is for DD...she gets full on concerts from us!

  • I was just a few seconds off of going to the 2004 Olympics.

    I'm a twin.

I went to film school for screenwriting after doing my BA. A short film I wrote was made by a local filmmaker. It is about a couple having a threesome. He did a pretty good job filming it and the actors are professionals. Only DH and my twin have seen it. I am so embarassed by the subject matter - even though I wrote it - I haven't told anyone else about it.

  • I'm a professional dog trainer, but I don't put much effort into training my own dogs.  I never bring them to work because I don't want customers to think I can't even train my own dogs. I just never feel like doing my job at home.

I love to read, garden, and cook. I enjoy music but not the stuff they play on the radio. Todd Snider is my fav I also really like Justin Townes Earl, Ryan Bingham, and Ani. well about me...

I have a diplomas in fashion and textile design, and am a 5th generation fiber artist.  During college I modeled nude for the first year life drawing classes at my college, it was very empowering. I had major body image issues until then and being naked in front of people helped me overcome those problems.

I am also related to the queen of England through the queen mother.
