3rd Trimester

Another October Momma is now a September Momma

I was due Oct. 13 and I had gone in for my weekly appointment on Thursday, Sept. 23.  The doctor said I was between 1-2cm 80% effaced.  He said that there was no way I was going early that I would likely make it to my due date.  I was already miserable, he felt low and I was crabby.  On Thursday night we took DD to a class where they tour the L&D and see the nursery and learn about their new sibling.  DH joked we better go home and rest so we could come back later.  Well at 12:45 am on Friday, Sept. 24 I woke up and felt something wet. I stood up and it was a big gush.  I called L&D and they told me to put a pad on to make sure.  I was standing in a puddle of water, so I told them I would put one on but was 100% sure.  My MIL came over to watch DD and we headed in.  When I got here they checked the pad and they confirmed it was my water (along with my soaked sweatpants).  They checked me at 1:15 and I was 2 cm.  At 4:15 am, I felt like I had to have a BM, the nurse came in and told me not to push because she thought it was the baby.  She checked me and said I was 4 cm and asked if I wanted an epidural, of course in between the contractions I said YES! She came in and gave me the epidural at 4:30 am which was difficult since I had 4 very painful contractions during this time.  She got it in and I felt great.  I told her I felt a ton of pressure and she checked me at 4:45 am and I was at 8 cm. I kept having tons of pressure so at 5:00 she checked me and I was at 10 cm.  She called the doctor and told me to try not to push until she got here. I managed to not push but at 5:30 the doctor got there and I pushed through 6 contractions and our little man, Lucas was born at 5:43 am on September 24.  That is the exact time DD was born and my water had broke at 11:45 with her.  The doctor joked that I am pretty good at labor.

Lucas is doing great, he slept for 3 to 4 hrs at a time last night and is starting to get the hang of nursing.  I only had 2 small "scratches" that they had to do 1 stitch in each.  I can't believe he is here, right after he came out DH looked at me and said ok maybe we can have one more.  Good Luck to all of you!!
