Pregnant after IF

blood clotting disorder question

how are blood clotting disorders diagnosed? are there specific blood tests just for those disorders? I've had karyotyping done and that came back normal - would blood clotting disorders be part of that panel?

my OB is having me set up an appointment with a hemotologist because I have a low platelet count. it's gone down slightly every time I've had a CBC since the beginning of the year, so I'm just curious/worried.

Re: blood clotting disorder question

  • Its seperate blood work for clotting issues.  Usually they start simple and then go from there.

  • If you ever had an RPL panel done, they were tested for then.

  • It is a separate test that is usually done as part of the RPL panel.  However I had them done at different times because my RE said you have to wait 2 months after a m/c (or d&c) before having the clotting testing done.  So we had the genetic testing done right away and after 2 months had passed we did the clotting testing.

  • ok, thanks ladies. I'm pretty sure that I had an RPL panel done when I started with my new RE. I'm going to call and double check on Monday.
