I always pay with a credit card at the coffee shop in my building and never tip. I feel guilty because the girls know my usual order and have it ready before I can even get to the cash register. I know, I'm a horrible person...but I almost never have cash and there's no tip line on their receipt. I'm going to give them something at xmas or put a big bill in there once to redeem myself.
This is probably going to make me sound really horrible, but why tip when it's their job? Unless they are waitresses/waiters who get paid less than min. wage because they factor in tips, I don't see the point. If you see the same person every week or something, then a little something at xmas is good. We all don't get tipped for doing our jobs. Lol, I'll go hide now since this is probably an unpopular opinion.

DH feels the same way...he says we don't tip McDonalds' employees. And I agree with you. Sometimes the way they look at you, then their tip can makes me feel guilty. It's like they expect something...

But why do they expect something? I don't get it. As a teacher, I get little trinkets at xmas, but I don't expect something every time I help a student. Maybe that's a bad analogy, but they are just doing the job they are getting paid to do--just like the rest of us.

The reason they really want you to tip at Sbucks is that they actually receive bonuses each month based solely on tip receipts. My good friend is a manager, and says the company sees tips as a sign of customer approval. I only tip at his store, though, or at another store at home where my cousin works. Once, a lady left her purse and they took it and put it in the store safe for her. She was so relieved she tipped them $200, so that next month every employee at her store got an extra $10 an hour extra on top of their regular pay for the whole month or something like that. It's a huge difference to an hourly person. I'm not preaching, just explaining. I would never tip if they seemed greedy for it.
Effff no. The drinks there are expensive enough anyway.
Are they like waiters/waitresses, working for less than minimum wage and depending on tips to close the gap? I certainly assume not... someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I do not tip at Starbucks or any other kind of order at the counter restaurant/shop.
