Hi!
Do any bump members use cloth diapers? I am seriously considering changing my 7 week old to cloth diapers. I went to a seminar on newborns and they were very much pro-cloth diapers. The benefits to the baby made me think of changing over. If you do cloth diaper can you please tell me what you think the pros an cons are. What kind do you use? We also live in Hoboken, NJ (so it is very urban) and we have our laundry in the basement of our walk-up-- are there such things as cloth diapering services (that will pick up, wash and drop off?
thanks!
Re: Do any members use cloth diapers?
Both of my kids were cloth diapered. I wash the diapers myself though - I don't know of any services in the area. I bought all my diapers online though I think there is a place near Clinton NJ that is selling them on the store. I liked pocket diapers a lot (I have a bunch of the Fuzzi Bunz brand: https://www.fuzzibunz.com/) however there are quite a few places that make pocket diapers. A pocket diaper means a diaper that comes with a waterproof cover and inside liner which you stuff with an absorbent insert. There is a nice video on the fizzi bunz page that shows you how to use the diaper. Now they are adjustable so you can size them even better for your baby. Happy Heiny's and Bum Genius are other popular brands.
I also use Chinese pre-fold diaper which are the kind that you fold up and pin on your baby's bottom. I think they are pretty easy to use when babies are small and don't move too much but they are more difficult to secure with wiggly babies. You also need to put a waterproof cover over them. If you go this route, I'd suggest getting good ones online, not the cheep ones in Babies R us.
For the ultimate in easy use, there are AIO (all in one) diapers. You can see some here: https://www.simplewondersdiapers.com/all-in-one-cloth-diaper.htm. You use them exactly like a disposable diaper but you wash them.
