I haven't been cleared to work out yet, but I am feeling pretty good and have been walking about a mile a day. Yesterday DH and I were leaving the house and I left something behind, so I jogged from the car to the house.
OUCH! I felt like my organs were all bouncing around. My stomach is pretty flat, just 'jiggly', but it felt like I was bouncing around like crazy.
Obviously I don't want to do anything intense, and I will listen to my body. If anything hurts, I'll back off, but I since I am feeling good and would like to start jogging in a few weeks, I'd like to slowly start building up my ab muscles.
Does anyone have any recommendations for strengthening my core? I was thinking of starting some light yoga, but not sure where to go from there.
Re: Post c-section ab exercises?
I wasn't cleared to do abs until 6 weeks. Some say 10. That said, I started back with my old routine, just slowly. I also did this video, Restore the Core, that was designed for post-partum and has c-section modifications.
There is also a new book, Strategies for the C-Section Mom, but it starts at day one PP.
Is that video mostly just immediately pp (obviously not the day after delivery), but also for those who are a little out? I see that it says prepare for delivery. I'm planning a VBAC next time, and would love some more info. I know, though, that DH isn't going to spring for any more workout stuff until I prove I'll stick to something.
Oh, it's for anyone. I know women who were never pregnant who do it. I had a mom in my class (it's also a class with StrollerFit) who had adopted her kids.
It's just great for post-partum because of the modifications that it shows, and it's great for anyone who's had a baby because of all of the focus on the lower abs, which is such a trouble zone.
I did Restore the Core most after my first delivery, which was vaginal, because I had more time with only one DS. But I did it while pregnant the second time and also did it after my C/S and it's great.
