It's actually a serious concern for many parents. There are always stories in the news regarding people in a rush forgetting their new babies are in the car and needed to be dropped off at day care. I personally have no idea how someone forgets this detail, but it's happening a lot more than it should be!

It's sad but you are right! I heard a segment on the news where they were encouraging mothers to put their purses by the car seats so they won't forget their babies. Seriously?! C'mon people!!
I would rather have someone with that note than have their poor baby left in the car. This happened in my community (it was a dad) and it was tragic. He lost his child, his wife left him, his business collapsed, and he went to jail.
The dad said he usually did not take it to daycare in the mornings but was supposed to that day. He says the baby didn't make a single noise the whole car trip because it was asleep. It was summer in the south, and all the windows were up. He didn't even get to the car until 5.
One mistake, one horrible awful mistake, something he SHOULD have known... but didn't. The rest of his life will be completely defined by that.
I just watched last night's Private Practice today and my heart sank over a story like that on the show. I know it's a show but that really does happen. It's so sad.
I would like to say I don't think I could ever forget my kid in the car, but a lot of times you hear these stories and these are normal, functioning, otherwise responsible adults...not crackheads on the lam. I can't imagine how horrible that would be if that ever happened to me or anyone I know and feel awful every time I hear something like this.
The sticky note is funny, but if it's a way to guarantee you won't leave your baby, then why not?

oh my god, I cried when I heard that character tell his story! I could not believe it, but it terrifies me bc it could (and does) happen.
Re: This should make you feel better about your mothering skills

He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!
