Hands/arms falling asleep?

Does this happen to anyone?  Every night when I get in bed and lay down for a few minutes, my hands and arms fall asleep.  I have to keep sitting up all night to get feeling back.  It's so annoying.

Re: Hands/arms falling asleep?

  • It happens in my sleep sometimes, but I just have to move them to make it stop... nothing too drastic.

  • If you haven't mentioned this to your OB, I would.  Especially if it's that bothersome.  I haven't had any problems.

  • This happens to me pretty often while sleeping.  If I raise my arm or arms above my head or under my pillow. It is sort of weird and I just assumed it had to do with blood flow.  I remember it happening with DD too.
  • ooops sorry!  thought this was posted on PGAL--- this new bump community thing is all messed up. The links are screwed up.  I click and it takes me to 3rd tri.  :)   But the falling asleep thing does happen to me... :)
  • I've noticed all of my limbs falling asleep more than usual.. but it's usually only when I'm sitting/laying in an awkward position.

  • Yes!  Especially in the last few days.. figured it was carpal tunnel?  If I lie down for 5 minutes one of my hands goes to sleep. At night I switch sides about every 15 minutes because of the pins and needles.   Also one of my legs/ foot has been tingling too, same sensation.  I just started swelling quite a bit int he last two weeks- something to do with that?
  • Yup, that's carpal tunnel syndrome due to water retention putting pressure on the median nerve supplying your wrists/hands.  Lucky you don't have numb fingers all day like I do now.  It's annoying.  Wearing wrist braces at night helps some people.
