Anyone have one of these? What do you like/dislike about it?
DS is 5 month old and is pushing 19lbs already. I have been using the Baby Bjorn when I go to the store with both kids. It's easier to wear DS and put DD in the cart. He's getting way too heavy though and my back has started to kill me. I saw this carrier and thought it might be a good match. I really want to be able to wear him on my back, but I'm worried it would be difficult to get him in something on my back when I'm by myself. I have no experiece with carriers other then the baby bjorn and hotsling (I hated this for DD).

Re: Kokopax Carrier (I need a carrier for a big baby)
I can't say I know much about the kokopax. Sorry! What I do know is that my little guy hit 20 pounds by the time he was 6 months old!! I wore him nearly every day and usually several times a day using a woven wrap and LOVED it! We also have a soft structured carrier (same kind fo idea s the bjorn but way more comfy for mom and baby). We have the Beco Butterfly 2 and like it a lot. My husband likes it more than I do because he isn't as comfortable with wraps. He'll even do back carries with the Beco! (Trust me...this is big news for him!)
Edited to add: Just looked up the kokopax. Generally speaking, I would suggest a soft structured carrier for every day/grocery store sort of outings before a framed pack style. They are generally more comfy and compact and easier to toss in the car/diaper bag.
DH has a Kokopax and likes it because he can easily get DS on and off in it by himself. He generally uses it while doing yardwork and we've used it at the botanical gardens and farmer's market. The bars on the EcoClassic and Classic styles feel much higher quality than the City since they are anodized aluminum instead of powder coated aluminum. The Eco also has a waist belt which I think is important for safety and comfort.
The drawbacks to the Kokopax are the same with any frame carrier. They take up a good amount of space when not being used. DS refuses to sleep in one so I have to bring the ring sling if we're on a longer trip. It is good up to 35lb but for awhile there we weren't sure if DS's belly would fit in it for much longer because of the way it is shaped and the way that the child straps are down inside the carrier (on the Eco, not sure about the others).
We have a lot of carriers and this one would probably do the job that you need but in the long run it is not as versatile as most others. If it had not been the ONE carrier DH wanted for himself we probably would not have spent the money but I felt like it was important for him to have one he thought of as his own. For ease of use it gets an A+ but for value per use I would give it a C (for lack of versatility).
