I've never had baby fever

I don't even know what baby fever feels like. We tried to get pregnant with DS, and we were definitely happy about it, but I never had a nagging urge to have a kid. I definitely don't have a nagging urge to have another kid. We'll just try for another one when it makes sense financially/emotionally/etc.

Anyone else never have baby fever?

Someone with 4 kids the other day (and her youngest is 6 months old) told me she had baby fever. I couldn't even wrap my head around that.

Re: I've never had baby fever

  • I didn't have baby fever, until I became pregnant for the first time.  I'm not even sure I have baby fever anymore, I think it's more pregnancy fever.

  • I'm with you. We were married almost 6 years before DD was born. We started TTC when we had achieved some of our other big goals (grad school, buying a home, starting my own freelance business) and a child was next on the list. That may sound a little cold as I write this, but dreams regarding your home and career are emotional, so was the dream of having a child. It just wasn"t "baby fever."

We are really on the fence about having another one. The only time I felt a  little bit of "fever" was when I weaned DD off the breast and I was super hormonal. I recognized the feelings for what they were and moved on...

This is exactly how it was for us too. College? check. Job? check. House? check. Baby? check.

I am still bf'ing too, so maybe things will be different when we wean.

I also have other things I want to check off my list: grad school, a real vacation... I keep hoping that the desire to have a baby would just overcome me, but it hasn't yet.

Me too. Plus I was turning 30 and it took mine and DHs parents along time to get pregnant so we wanted not to wait in case it took us awhile.

  • I would love nothing more to have another newborn right now but that isn't happening just yet since I just had surgery! We tried for a long time before we had the twins and it took IVF to achieve that! I knew right away after they were born i wanted another so we back for another round of IVF and 9 months later Brady arrived. I have always wanted 4 kids! So hopefully we wil l have another baby around this time next year!

  • Well, I have 4 kids and I also have baby fever right now!! I don't think we talked the other day, lol!  I just love being pg & love being a mom!  What can I say?  We have actually discussed a 5th & final child.  We have not decided one way or another, though.
