I am on 2nd tri but I wanted to repost on here since I believe this is more common at the end of pregnancy
I have been feeling "heavy" down there for a few weeks and I already know I have hemmroids (i had them when i was pregnant with my dd and ds also) but i discovered that my whole outer vaginal area is swollen and it is not painful but uncomfortable to stand for too long and also to work around. As soon as I sit down or lay down it feels much better. I hate pooping(sorry tmi) because pushing makes me feel like my insides are going to fall out my vag. I called the ob and the nurse says it is vaginal vericose veins (painful and inconvenient but harmless to the baby) she said some get them so bad that they are put on bedrest. I have literally never heard of this before. There is not really any treatment. Just support garments you can wear (like a lady jockstrap to make you feel more supported) Has anyone had this or know anyone who has?
Thanks!!
Re: does anyone have vaginal vericose veins ??
I've had a lot of swelling down below for a couple of weeks now. Here's what has helped me...
Soak a pad with witch hazel and stick it in the freezer for a little while. It will be shocking when you first put it on because it's so cold, but it REALLY helps with the discomfort. Witch Hazel is very soothing, and the cold coupled with that brings the swelling down quite a bit. I do this at least a few times a week when I get home from work, and it's made a really big difference in the amount of swelling I'm having. HTH!
I miss looking down and seeing mine there...
gone are the days.
Oh man I've had those twice, and they are super painful! I can't imagine getting it while pregnant! I don't have varicose veins down there (but I haven't exactly looked, I'm kinda scared), but I do feel that pressure you describe, especially while sitting on the toilet. I'm really looking forward to not being pregnant!
I got one previous to my pregnancy also, but since I wasn't with child, my doc gave me awesomely strong antibiotics to knock it out. With the one I got during my pregnancy, I just had to wait it out (she wouldn't even lance/drain it because of the increased blood flow down there). I knew it was coming since I had been told that I'm "predispositioned" for them to reoccur, especially when pregnant. I massaged that thing multiple times per day (through tears) to try to get my body to reabsorb it and it did! Oh happy day.

this is my 4th pregnancy. I have a 4 yr old and a 3yr old and I had a loss this past March. The nurse was surprised that I was having this so early as well. I have been pregnant since January except for the 12 weeks inbetween my miscarriage and this pregnancy so maybe that has something to do with it?
