Made an appt with an allergist

I've been discussing recently with DH that we think that an allergist would suit our needs better than the pedi GI we're seeing right now.  So I turned to google, and found one in our area that had great ratings.  I gave them a call to see if they took our insurance, if I needed a referral, if they could treat a 4 month old, etc.

The lady answered after like, one ring, and was super nice.  They accept our insurance, I don't need a referral from our pedi, and I have an appt next Wednesday!!  I'm so excited.  We're supposed to see the GI the following Wednesday, but if this appt goes well I'll cancel with the GI.

C has been doing so much better, but still spits up a TON (though he isn't bothered by it) and has sensitive skin, so any additional answers we can get would be awesome.  Wish me luck!!

Re: Made an appt with an allergist

  • Good luck! I hope you guys click with the allergist. It is just so tough in terms of testing because a positve test can be false and a negative test can be positive, especially with the wee los. But having someone who specializes in allergies will be helpful. Until we found DD's allergist I felt like the topic over shadowed all of our appts. with our regular Pedi. Let us know how it goes.

  • I hope it goes well! We  pph Ari's allergist. He takes extra time if we need it, is really knowledgeable & asks a lot of questions, & has been a huge help for us. I really think having an allergist is a must if you have a kid with multiple food sensitivities.

  • Yeah initially they told us he just had AR so we went to the GI, but while he's had some suggestions, most of what I've done has been from my own research and intuition.  I'm hoping an allergist will be more knowledgeable and since allergies are the root of the problem, it'll make the GI unnecessary.

I'll update after our appt :)

  • i was actually thinking about you [well, your situation :) ] the other day. if you`ve cut out all that stuff, i`m sure you`ve thought of this, but just in case you haven`t.... have you considered the possibility of a `hidden` source of an allergen? like, your multivitamin is coated in sodium caseinate, or there`s like a soy product in your chapstick? something ridiculous like that? something that might not even be labeled? i read your post where you were asking for suggestions of what else you could possibly eliminate [it was a while ago], and something made me think of it recently, and i just thought maybe you were still unknowingly taking something in. i`m sure you obsessively read labels, so i`m probably off-base, but i thought i`d add my two cents :) good luck!
  • Good Luck!   I am so happy that you got the appointment.  My Pedi (they are great) doesn't seem to think you can test this early.  I am really curious to hear what they find for your LO.

Hopefully you can add some foods back!
