C-Section on Tues at 39wks1dy!!! Yikes!

I cannot believe this is my last weekend before LO gets here! I have a scheduled c/s due to a breech baby. I am terrified that I am going to go into labor before then! I already can't sleep and the anxiety of surgery is not helping. Having a minor freak out this morning...any last minute tips from 2nd time moms (esp c/s mommas)? TIA!

  • good luck!!!!

my only suggestion is bring your boppy with you.  it helps with holding your belly around the incision.

and honestly, I found a scheduled c-section SUPER easy.  start taking a colace pill now and continue with it for a few weeks and you will be fine!!

    good luck!!

  • I second the boppy.  Also, if you're BFing, "football hold" and side-lying nursing were the nursing positions that worked easiest- keeping baby's weight off the incision.

  • Thanks ladies! I will definitely bring the boppy. Did either of you also bring normal pillows from home or your pregnancy body pillow? As for the colace...does it cause very loose bm's or does it work kinda like benefiber? I like benefiber but you have to take too many doses so a pill sounds better if possible. I just don't want to get diarrhea =( Thank you!!!
  • My c-section is Wednesday for my breech baby, I'm excited to finally get to meet her!

  • colace does not cause diarrhea or anything.  just helps you go.  After your c-section your bowls will slow down a bit.  This will help you not strain to go.

I did not bring any extra pillows.  I had 2 in my room, which was enough, and my boppy.

good luck.  Enjoy a few days in the hospital with the nurses waiting on you!!  That was my favorite part!!

  • Good luck! I had an emergency c-section with DS and it was a great experience. The sooner you are able to get up and start moving afterwards the better off you will be. Make sure you stay the full 4 nights that they allow you, you will have plenty of time to be home with LO once you are released but don't look to go home early because you are only cheating yourself out of a little extra help & care.

  • Thanks again ladies! I will definitely take advantage of the hospital stay and get my colace today! Just put the cover on my boppy and threw it in the bag =)
