I know this has been asked, but I can't find a post about it. What books do you recommend for newborn/baby care, sleep, eating, whatever? I know Happiest Baby on the Block is always recommended and I am not a fan of any of the WTE series. So besides those two? Thanks ladies!
Re: Newborn Books
I'm reading it right now and I like it. It's easy to read and not a wall of text.
I am also reading HBotB and it's very repetative. If I had to do it over I probably would have just bought the DVD. I love to read, though, so I thought the DVD would have annoyed me. Oh well.
Good to know. I have a mini HBotB dvd that was given to us in our childbirth class. I was going to get the book, but I HATE repetitive stuff. I can't learn that way and it annoys me to no end. I had a hard time with teachers in college who would repeat the same things over and over and over.
It sounds like Baby 411 is a good one. I think I'll pick that up today.
Is this an AP book?
It's actually the opposite. It shows how to get babies on a schedule, how to teach them to sleep on their own (no props, etc), and lots of other great tips. I love it. I used it with DS and he slept through the night early on. Of course with any parenting book, you have to be comfortable with the approaches used and use your own instincts for your baby. For us, it worked great, but we are organized, scheduled people and our son was a great baby so he did well with the routine.
This is us too. I will be practicing several AP principles, but not all. I believe in the general AP principles, but I also think it is very important to have a routine and the plan for things. Regardless if they go as scheduled or not, that is how we operate. So I think I'm kind of in the middle. Sounds like a good book. Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm loving The Baby Book by Sears. SO good and totally rings true with my instincts.
I also really enjoyed the Happiest Baby on the Block dvd (got the book too, but ended up watching the video instead and it made the book pointless!).
I've heard Baby 411 is great and the Baby Whisperer book too (not sure which one though... there are a couple by the same author and I'm not sure if it's different info in each or what).
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.
