Question about "sheet savers"

If you registered for those sheet savers that you put over the sheets in the crib, here's my question:

Do you put the baby's face on the sheet saver to prevent spit-ups on the sheets or under the baby's bottom to prevent, uh, diaper spills on the sheets?

Sorry if this is a dumb question....

Re: Question about "sheet savers"

  • I wondered the same thing! But now from experience, I know that spit-up is more likely than a blowout. I never had a bad diaper blowout or leak happen in the crib. I never did end up getting them which is fine because I don't think I really needed them. Spit-up didn't happen much either and it isn't long that they sleep in the same spot anyway.

  • i used them for spit up...my daughter never slept long enough to have to worry about too many blow-outs in the crib.  I did put one of those big waterproof pads that they have for the changing table under the sheet though so that i didnt have to change the mattress cover too often.
  • I always considered them for spit ups...

  • imageMrs.Bones:

Don't they fit over pretty much the whole sheet? I registered for the Ultimate Crib Sheet, and it looks like it covers the whole place your baby will be sleeping on.

The Ultimate Crib Sheet does but the standard ones only cover a portion of the crib mattress...

  • I didn't know which end either! Head it is! Stick out tongue
  • I got one b/c DS had reflux so I tried it under the face... I think it sucked, personally. He'd end up off of it all the time!

  • i dont know about over there, but all the sheet savers here dont breathe and come with explicit directions to NEVER place them beneath baby?s head.

my aunt always used cloth diapers underneath her kids heads against spit up (clearly not ones you will use or have used as actual diapers...) -- back home they pretty much use cloth diapers for everything (in stead of a towel as it gets in the creases better, against spit up, as wraps, mini underblankets, nose & ear cleaners). They are cheap, soft/comfortable and effective.

+ they make great cleaning rags once they?ve served their initial purpose!

  • i had the opposite situation of pretty much everyone. DS was very small and even preemie diapers were big on him when we brought him home. no kidding, for the first two weeks after we came home he leaked out of his diaper EVERY TIME he peed. I was having to wash his clothes, sleep sack or swaddle blanket and the crib sheet and mattress pad every time he went until i got the sheet savers. they really helped contain the liquid.
