Ok so at my appointment last friday my WBC was at 23.6 and the normal range starts at 25 (my red bld cnt was a tiny bit high also), so of course I go into a panic that something is wrong with me and Im dying, etc. Anyway, I started reading up and discovered that stress and obesity can lower your WBC and I have to admit I am a stress case and I also have about 40 extra pounds that I could lose, well maybe a few more then that, but my question is has any of you ever heard of that?? Also, the nurse (who is really good at being on top of everything) hasn't called me to say anything about it and they've had the results a week now.......so Im inclined to think that I will survive?? In addition to this my bp was 120/90, another indication of stress.
Re: Low white blood count, caused by stress.....

I agree with Amy...small variations don't usually mean anything. Over the long term, cortisol can suppress your white blood cell count. But "stress" can mean many things...including any chronic medical condition (which causes physical "stress" on your system).
I'm guessing that your doctor didn't mention it because it's too small of a change to worry him/her. Hope it's nothing, & please keep us posted!
