I know I would be less hungry if I could stomach more protein, but it all makes me want to gag...I can't do any of my usuals (grilled chicken, fage yogurt, turkey sausage). Have you found anything that works?
I'm definitely not getting enough, most protein sources are grossing me out right now (even yogurt & PB). I did buy a protein powder from TJ, but I haven't even opened it yet so a whole lot of good it's doing me lol.
Peanut butter, almonds, cheese/milk, Kashi Go Lean cereal and hard boiled eggs. I'm having a hard time with meats, so I'm probably not actually getting enough protein, but I'm trying to get some!

There were a couple weeks there where I knew I was not getting enough protein. I think it's just a small amount of time that we have to deal with it. All protein was disgusting to me, and now I'm just now coming back around. Have you ever tried Protein bars? There are these bars called ThinkThin bars, and they are pretty much like candy IMO. They have 0 grams of sugar and 20 grams of protein in each bar I think. The best flavors are creamy peanut butter & chocolate brownie, but they also have white chocolate and crunchy peanut butter which are great too! These are kind of expensive, but they are worth it!
I've been eating fit & active protein energy bars from Aldi. The Carmel Peanut Butter is by far my most favorite. It definitely is like candy. You've got to remember though if you're going to eat a protein bar you also need to drink a full glass of water with it because it will make you dehydrated. Good luck!!!
I get the chocolate one at Whole Foods for about $25, I think. I mix it with regular milk and it's not awful. It is a bit chalky tasting, though, so I might start mixing it with almond milk or maybe chocolate soy or rice (if I ever remember to pick it up).
It definitely helps me to feel a bit more full, but that might just be because of the milk. I have not had much MS, just a little nauseau here and there, and this seems to have no negative impact on me. Good luck!
Heading to the health food store for some protein bars! Sadly, I can't do the shakes, the milk is tough to get down, unless it's with cereal of course: )
When I was very sick, I could still get down string cheese. Actually cheese in any form (grilled cheese, cheese ravioli, pizza, etc.) seemed to be the only way I was getting protein for awhile.
Also, I made smoothies with milk, yogurt and a banana.
Edamame was a good snack for awhile.
I'm not sure why so many of us had difficulty with chicken/meat/fish proteins but I couldn't barely even look at that stuff.
I can still handle beef sometimes (ground, or cut into Chinese food) and pork about once a week. And I do OK with American cheese (grilled cheese FTW).
I can't even look at chicken, fish, shellfish or eggs though!
To get enough protein, I eat a protein bar for breakfast every day that tastes almost like a candy bar and gives me 20+ grams of protein.
One thing that really worked for me when I'm battling nausea is a Chicken Soup protein powder I got from www.Unjury.com. It's great, you mix one scoop with warm water and it makes chicken broth that has 20 grams of protein in it. Tastes like cup of soup broth, nice a salty to keep the nausea down.
I drink a lot of milk because it's easier and quicker than chewing food, to be honest. Also: string cheese, almonds, peanut butter sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, yogurt, Kashi granola bars. You could also try quinoa, it has lots of protein.
I was eating a lot of peanut butter and jam sandwiches in the beginning. I haven't really had any issues with meat though. I still can't eat real cheddar cheese though.. only cheese slices. Cheddar was my first real food aversion.. ugh.

Re: How you getting enough protein?
How ARE you getting...
I'm hardly getting any, just some PB now and again on toast.
I think right now it's about keeping down whatever food you can, and not worrying about anything else.
I'm a vegetarian and I hate beans, so my OB recommended a protein supplement. I have been taking this daily: https://www.vitacost.com/NutriBiotic-Vegan-80-Rice-Protein-Powder

Greek yogurt is a great source of protein.
I also second the nomination of Kashi GoLean crunch.

I'm not having any food aversions so it hasn't been much of an issue for me. I do like to eat greek yogurt, which has a lot of protein in it.
Are you able to drink smoothies or anything like that? Maybe mix some protein powder in that.

I struggle with this, too. Especially since I'm a vegetarian and having major food aversions to what seems like everything.
I'm going to try and stick to apples/peanut butter, protein bars, egg white sandwiches and bean+corn quesadillas. Next week, it could all change.
