Buying a treadmill...maybe

DH and I are looking into buying a treadmill.  We are basically looking for something to walk or "jog" on.  We don't want to spend a lot of money on it, but don't want one to poop out on us right when we plug it in.

I saw a Gold's Gym one at Walmart for about $400.  It has 8 programs and goes to 10mph.  Do you think for what we want it for, that this one might work?  If not, what do you reccomend we look for?  TIA!

  • I don't have recommendations for a specific one.  I would say try it out before you buy it and get one that is sturdy.  The tiny, thin-framed ones tend to shake.  Also, check Craigslist and Play it Again Sports (or any used site).  Many people buy treadmills and use them only a handful of times.  I would not pay full price for a treadmill.  GL!

  • I honestly wouldn't bother with a cheap one. Not worth it.

I bought a Nordic Track. It was about a grand, but I've had it for  over 3 years. It's still warrantied. It's awesome. Best purchase ever.

This. My DH used to own a exercise equipment company and he says that with treadmills especially you need to invest quality dollars or it'll be a waste. I also agree with PP about Play-it-Again, craigslist, etc...so many people buy this equipment with good intentions and then rarely use it.  Also, we ended up going with a stationary bike rather than the treadmill and have been loving it (takes up less space). GL!
