Items for plane for long flight

A friend of mine will be traveling with her five month old and two year old from Arizona to Germany in May.  In place of a baby shower, we are getting her a gift basket with items for the plane.

What things are the most useful in traveling with two little ones on a long flight?

The longest trip I've taken with my LO is a 45 minute car ride, so I really have no idea where to start.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

  • portable DVD player, coloring books and crayons, the markers that only color on the special paper, packs of stickers or bandaids to play with, touch and feel books, the lamaze brand moose toy for the 2 month old, tons and tons and tons of snacks (the hard pretzels take a while for the kid to eat so they last a while and yogurt melts and a special lollipop for the red alert emergency situations), tylenol and mylicon for the infant just in case, travel size magnadoodle.
  • Loading the player...
  • The 5 month old will probably be fine with a few new small objects, but the 2 yo will be hard. I'd suggest Bucky the Buckle Turtle:

  • I have no idea about the 2 year old but the 5 mo. old will be SO easy to travel with.

Make sure she has requested a bassinet seat for the baby as that'll help her a lot.  The baby will either hang out in there and sleep or she can stick all the extra toys/blankets/etc in there.

Have her take extra diapers, extra snacks/food and definitely an extra set of clothes for all of them.
