Flying with LO

I always ignore posts about flying, and now I wish I didn't. DH and I are going to Oahu next week and bringing LO. All you moms who have flown with your LO's what do you recommend I bring aside from the obvious of diapers, wipes, medication and clothes and burping cloths. Is there anything that I really need to bring that will make our trip easier? Anything in particular for the flight?

  • Check out this list from babycenter.com.  It has some good suggestions

  • Two tips- Bring a change of clothes for you as well as baby.  You never know when baby may have a blowout or spit up all over you.  And nurse or bottlefeed during takeoff and landing to prevent ear pain.  Traveling w/an infant is pretty easy, compared to an older child.  GL!
  • My DD is just a day younger than your LO (I looked at your blog) and we just flew with her last week. She did fantastic, so much so that we didn't even need to feed her or use a pacifier during take off and landing. Our flight was only 3 hrs each way, though. If you FF, I'd recommend you bring at least two feedings worth of formula for the flight (of course, if you breastfeed you don't have to worry about that). I supplement, so I had to pack bottles, a bottle brush, dish soap, and a sterilizer bag.
  • We just flew with the baby a couple weeks ago and I'll fly again with her in a couple weeks. In my opinion, this is the easiest age for flying. I nurse on the flight and bring the Boppy on board for her to lie on and she stays pretty happy.
