3rd Trimester

Gift for your Dr.?

My doctor has been so wonderful throughout this pregnancy, and even tolerates my overly-anxious husband!  lol  So I was thinking of getting him a gift once DS is born.  Any ideas on something not too expensive?

Re: Gift for your Dr.?

  • Gifting the doctor seems kind of strange to me, but I'm sure a heart-felt thank you note would be very appreciated.

  • Maybe once your LO arrives you could send something like an edible arrangements package to their office with a thank you to the Dr and staff.

    this!

  • After being high risk and having everyone in my OB office taking such awesome care about me (even calling to see how I'm doing on bed rest), we'll be sending a gift basket to the office.  Not specifically to my OB, but for everyone to enjoy.
  • a birth announcement and a personal thank card should be good.
  • i think you should send the office lunch.. or dessert like homemade cookies and a good thank you note would be so nice..

  • I can see how it would seem wierd, but I have been high-risk & I really appreciate the extra time that my OB and his staff have spent with me.  I like the idea of homemade treats & note.  Thanks for the ideas everyone.

  • My doctors office is very small - only one doctor, and usually the same nurse and receptionist - and I just love all three of them. I definitely planned on sending a thank you card and possibly a small gift for the office like sending breakfast or an edible arrangement or something like that. I think ethically doctors aren't supposed to accept personal gifts, but something for the office would be very nice and acceptable to send.
  • Working in a hospital I can tell you that your OB shouldn't accept a present from you, but all Dr's offices love food.  I know homemade sounds heartfelt but everyone feels more comfortable with store bought items that are still wrapped...you can't be too careful these days.  Whenever someone drops off something homemade we throw it away.  I plan on bringing a few tubs of costco cookies when I check in for my c/s.  It can't hurt to butter them up before they cut me open!

I never would have thought of that.  Thanks!

  • I will be giving my doctor and his staff a gift as well! I have also been high risk and my OB is absolutely wonderful! I have been with him for about 10years now. It has been a long road to get this baby here, and I truely appreciate all his hard work. Plus I just happen to work at one of his favorit places...See's Candies! I will bring them a basket of goodies on my first visit after baby arrives!
