Feet swelling - do you have it?

Today I have noticed that my feet are starting to swell up. They never swelled with my first DS until after I had him. Apparently this time, they are going to a littler earlier.  I have a doc appt this afternoon and plan to ask about it then.

So how many of you ladies have swelled up feet and/or cankles? What do you do about it? Is it/can it be something more serious?

Re: Feet swelling - do you have it?

  • I started swelling this week on my feet and my calves a little bit.  I'm trying to drink more water as this helps to control it.

  • Me: "OH.EM.GEE. look at my ankles!"

DH: "What ankles?" *laughs like an idiot*

    How sweet.

  • My feet are pretty much constantly swollen right now.  I had to give up about 90% of my shoes in favor of a size larger in Crocs.  They're the only shoes I can comfortably wear.

Drinking a ton of water and watching my sodium has helped, but I've given up on trying to get rid of the swelling completely.  It's just going to be there until I have the girls.

From what I've read and talked to my doc about, the feet swelling is totally normal.  The only swelling concerns seem to be if your face and hands start swelling a lot in a short period of time.

  • With DD, I probably had swelling at the point I'm at now in this pregnancy.  This time around, I only had one day of swelling.  It was after being on my feet all day in the heat.  I think I was around 26 weeks then.  It's pretty common at the end of pregnancy.  You just have to put your feet up and drink more water.  It can be a symptom of preeclampsia, but from what I understand, severe swelling, especially in your face and hands is more of an indicator of that.  Of course talk to your doctor this afternoon, but it could just be some of the common swelling that happens.

  • My feet stay huge here lately.  I had to buy me 2 new pairs of shoes for work. And my mom fusses me out everyday about my feet swelling.  I just try to drink more water.  My sodium intake is not very much b/c I can't stand much salt or anything.

THIS! I've been living in my crocs, even they are tight but at least still comfortable! My OB has said the swelling is normal and hasn't seems too concerned especially since my BP is normal. I try and keep my feet up when possible  and drink lots of water. I notice they get HUGE on warmer more humid days.

  • My feet have just started swelling this week.  My blood pressure has stayed low all pregnancy and I drink enormous amounts of water.  From what I understand it's swelling of the face, especially around your eyes, that would be of greater concern.  I'm not sure there's anything I can do about it, except sit on the couch with my legs propped up all day which is not feasible since I have a job.

  • My feet have been swelling for awhile now. I just try to make sure I drink a lot of fluids and I try to put them up as much as possible.

  • I've got edema up into my thighs and belly. It's very attractive... nope. Elevating my feets doesn't really do much at this point either. They go down a bit but not by much. Sucks. I can't even get my tubs into my Crocs -- they're too tight and I can shove them into a pair of flip flops but the dents they make are pretty dramatic. I'm a fvcking mess.

No PIH/pre-eclampsia .. yet but I'm borderline. My OB thinks the twins are compressing my vena cava and impeding blood return. Wicked!

  • My feet started swelling about 2 weeks ago. Some days my hands/fingers swell a little bit too, but the only thing my OB said was to increase my water intake and watch my sodium.

  • My feet are swollen for me - my toes tend to swell up if I'm on my feet a lot during the day. Eat more protein and drink water - limiting your sodium intake doesn't really make a difference.
