Who is helping you out during the 1st month?

Re: Who is helping you out during the 1st month?

  • I'd like to know the answer to this as well.  I have a mother, kind of.. no, I do.. but we are not allowing her to come help me b/c she causes to much stress, tension etc etc.. I would rather do it alone than have her.. So I am in the same boat in a sense.  I have also wondered/considered if I needed to get a doula or part time nanny.

I would love to hear suggestions/advice/info etc.

    thanks!

  • My DH and I run a business together so he unfortunately can't take time off since I will obviously be out of the office.  He will be home as much as possible, but when he can't my mom will stop by to help with our 2 dogs, cooking, cleaning and shopping.  If it weren't for our 2 puppies I'd feel ok on my own, but with those 2 I don't know how I'd manage, especially if I had to have a c-section (we live in a brownstone with 27 friggen stairs!!)  NOT FUN!

  • When I had my first daughter it was just my husband and I... although he wasn't really around at all so it was pretty much just me.  I did have several visitors (friends & family) who brought dinner but no one who stayed more than an hour or two.  It was absolutely fine.  Having someone bring meals is awesome, but with just one baby you just have to sleep when they sleep and I think it is usually ok.

This time I have an active 5-yr old so I am hoping that my step-mom or MIL will come stay with us or take her for a while.
